It's EXACTLY the same thing.  You pay per line on Verizon too.  I also don't see phones as Connected device plans in their terms so I am unsure you even get the option you are looking for,

1. Number Share - Mobile Features. Number Share - Mobile allows you to make and receive calls using one shared telephone number across all of your Number Share - Mobile capable Verizon LTE devices (for eligible devices). Your host smartphone's phone number ("host line") is shared by all eligible extension devices. Calls are received and sent from this shared line. Your extension device will also have its own line that will be reflected on your bill. Features and requirements vary by device. Number Share - Mobile works with compatible devices on the following wireless plans: Postpaid Verizon 2.0/1.0, More Everything, Share Everything, and Unlimited (a single-line is not eligible for Number Share - Mobile). Number Share - Mobile will only work while on the Verizon LTE Network.

To use Number Share - Mobile, all of your devices must be on the same standard account or business account* with either:

• An Unlimited plan - Your connected device must also have its own separate connected device plan.
• A shared data plan - Your monthly data allowance is shared with your connected devices. (Shared Data plans are no longer available to add to accounts).

*Not available for prepaid or government accounts at this time.
