Tmobile trade in is SCAM

T mobile trade in is definitely a scam or useless reps that promised resolutions to just get you off the phone.  I have port in and trade in my phones from Verizon in Sept 2022.  They advertised and promised the trade-in amounts.  Processed at store in Sept and somehow one of the trade in was linked to wrong line.  Rep at store claim it is not an issue for the promotion etc.  Ever since then, i had called customer care and spoken to over 10 reps since Sep and still have not been corrected by T mobile.  So, beware when you decide to port in or trade in your phone in Tmobile.. You may never see the credits/promotions promised.

  • Became a t-mobile customer August 2023 traded in iphone XR for Iphone 13 was promised 730 for trade in sent phone in after wiping it clean and removing find my iphone. Never heard from them except that they received my old phone via text. After receiving a 100.00 bill I called and after a 45 minute conversation was told the promotion was cancelled because I did not turn off "find my iphone" I assured them I had but no avail and they stated they could not return phone nor would they give me any credit for it. Basically they stoled my phone VR and forced my to pay 740 for the iphone 13. I intend to file with small clains court this week.  Mike Sullivan

  • They reinstated the promotional credit after calling corporate. Hope it sticks. Aslo the local office assisted me with my iphone install so much happier now.

  • In my specific case, my apple watch that I shipped to them was still under "find my" in my apple account. I thought I had erased it from there, because when I checked on my phone I didn't see the device, but I had to sign into icloud and erase it from there. The reps are usually lazy and obviously didn't look into it deep enough, because it took 3 reps for me to find out this was the case; the other 2 reps just said keep waiting… lol annoying. I should have just sold my watch myself tbh, I would have gotten more for it and not had to deal with the reps at t-mobile. Lesson learned.

Be an advocate for yourself and tell the customer service rep you believe you're being scammed and that they do have your phone. I had the same issue except I was receiving the trade in credit for two months and then it went away. I did a lot of research and found people having similar issues so I called customer service and basically demanded that they adjust my bill to reflect the trade in credit and the representative ended up adjusting my bill. She also told me that they believe there was damage with my iPhone and someone was going to call me back within the next month to tell me what happened (side note: I had already heard from a store rep that the warehouse was saying they never received my trade in decide). Five hours later I got a call at 8:30pm with a representative from the warehouse investigation team saying my device was nowhere to be found and that they couldn't do anything. She proceeded to say the only solution was to file a claim with UPS. Luckily, I had already looked into filing a claim with UPS but UPS doesn't allow you to file a claim after 60 days (this is now 70+ days after my device was delivered). I responded to the customer service agent very sternly telling her the info about a UPS claim and that I'm now stuck in this position where nothing can be done. I continued on to say that I believed T-Mobile has my device and they're lying to me and scamming not only me but many other people. I told her I found this page and many other posts about people running into the same problem. The minute I mentioned scam she "conveniently" found my phone.

MY ADVICE: if you have proof from UPS of delivery and it's a couple months later, be an advocate for yourself. Tell them you believe you're being scammed and that they have your phone. I'd be curious to know how many people will all of a sudden get an answer that their phone has been found when they mention this information.

    Trade in Scam:

T mobile definitely is running a scam. Tried to get credit for a trade in of my iPhone 13pro max. Perfect condition. They told me some indicator in the sim tray suggested the phone had gotten wet or some other issue. Turned down my trade!  I took the phone directly to the Apple Store. They ran their screen and told me the phone was in fine trade in condition. T-Mobile is running a scam here! Do not buy your phone from them!

I had similar response with my 13 pro max. They rejected the phone only after I signed up for service. I now have to pay $1300 for a 15 that I really didn't need. Also, they valued my regular 13 at zero dollars, kept the phone and I now pay full price for another of their phone. Customer Care is worthless and condescending.

The scam is simple. The agent, looks at your phone, tells you it’s in awesome condition, you sign the contract only to be told weeks later that they don’t like the condition of the phones you sent in.

  • Same here.  Went to the store, they looked at my phone, offered $800 trade in for a 6mth old Galaxy 22 Plus ($900 phone). Ported a line from Verizon, got a $1,400 Iphone, sent my phone back, got a $100 trade in, due to small crack on the screen.  The only option was to get it back or accept the $100. Asked if i could buy and send it another phone and they said no.  Love Tmobile but their promotions only look good on the TV.

  • After being with T-mobile for several years, loving them, loving their price, loving their support, etc….  Earlier this year I bought new phones at a T-Mobile Sams club kiosk.   They said I would get $300.00 per phone trade in (one apple, one samsung) they wrote it down (no signature or name, just notes) and gave me the notes.  I received the pre-paid UPS envelopes a couple of days later and immediately sent both the samsung and apple phone.  Within a week or so the t-mobile site showed they had received the Samsung and shortly after started getting the $300.00 discount on the Samsung.   I started getting text saying they hadn't received the Apple and have received that text several times now.   I have called multiple times, talkes to multiple reps.  Each said yes the trade in value for the iPhone should be $300.00.  But just give it time.  Then I received text saying if I didn't return the phone now I wouldn't get any trade-in.  Called again, was on the phone with them for about an hour.   Now they say they definetly received the phone, but instead of $300.00 per phone it was $150.00 per phone.  But said they would research why the Sam's Club kiosk agent and all their other phone support had told me it was $300.00 per phone.   I haven't heard back, but today I received another text saying my phone hadn't been received.   I truely believe they didn't receive the phone, but because it was a pre-paid UPS envelope that they purchased, I can't open a case with UPS, and T-Mobile won't open a case.   I think the worst part is that they just don't care that they made a mistake or won't take any action to even determine if they can find the phone.   In a short period of time my opinion of T-Mobile has gone from a 5+ to a 1.   They can be such a great company,  I hope they get their act together.
