what's up with T-mobile removing autopay discount for credit cards?
I just literally signed up for a new plan - debit cards have fees for providers too - accessing my bank account isn’t a good approach from a security perspective (noting that T-mobile has been hacked - i wouldn’t have shared this directly with T-mobile customer service but there is not email or chat and I don’t have time for phone calls

That was announced months ago. It is because credit card companies charge a service charge that is based on the percentage of every transaction, which eats into T-Mobile's revenue. Removing the auto pay discount for credit cards negates that.

Are there ay lawyers out there? I don' think it is legal to change the rules after you already made an agreement. What about a Class action law suite ??? I have been using my CC since I started with T-mobile in 2022 Feb. Now I will lose my discount. I chatted with them and was told that it is because people will pay with CC, get the discount, then revers the charge, REally? I don't think that is the case. How can they really expect someone to be forced to use a personal checking account or debit card to receive the discount. I can choose to use my CC but at a cost now of 20.00 a month, this is basically a charge to protect my checking account from being hacked.
let me know if you find one for a class action suit I am ready to sign
Unfortunately in Tmobile's terms and conditions they can change it. Autopay discount is a perk not part of the plan cost.
Maybe. I am not a lawyer. They sell the service price using the autopay discount. The T&C is non-negotiable, making it a contract of adhesion. If a judge finds that it is unconscionable (arguably a heavy lift), then the T&C could be nullified.
Have you read the terms and conditions? Tmobile can change things as they wish and doesn't guarantee coverage.
Your rate plan stays the same, the autopay discount is a perk. No nullifying the terms and conditions just because they changed the terms of autopay.
Tmobile also changed the marketing of their rate plan in reflecting the autopay discount for debit card or bank account only. It's also in the terms and conditions.

Pure greed. Bait and switch. They want me to change but they have been hacked 3 times. I had to change my credit card because of unusual activity after the hack. Jerks
More protection with the credit card. I brought them new customers too. Despicable.

I first thought the text message I received might be a phishing attempt. So, I logged in to my T-Mo account and it's interesting that I saw *no* mention of this even when viewing my current Auto Pay settings. With a bit of news search (and stumbling upon *this* forum) I found it to be legitimate.
Hah! It seems there might be another reason to push us off of credit card autopay….

"I understand not want to provide us with your direct checking account information, but luckily enough, we have an alternate method called the T-Mobile MONEY which is an FDIC-insured, high interest and mobile-first checking account that pays everyone a 2.5% Annual Percentage Yield (APY) on all balances. Find out more about it with this link https://www.t-mobile.com/support/plans-features/t-mobile-money?cmpid=hw_send. I recommend this method in order to keep your bank account under the radar. Let me know how this sounds to you and if you have any questions for me."SOUNDS TERRIBLE! Just another way to get our personal information out in public.

I canceled my service because I hate this from the "uncarrier". Amex gives a $10/credit per month plus comes with device insurance. My option is give that up, or pay an extra $60/year. They just effectively raised our rates despite their price lock guarantee. I hope they enjoyed buying my phone a few months ago for me to leave because they couldn't keep up their side of the bargain. I'm now paying $15 / month for my phone, watch and insurance after discounts with Visible. I was paying $90 for one line with T-mobile. I'm so over phone companies playing games!

The highest charge to T-mobile by credit cards should be AMEX, up to 3.3%.
The rest can be half that. $5/mo is double what Visa charges and a new profit center for T-Mobile.
The lower your bill, the higher % $5 is.
NO WAY data breached T-Mo earned my banking info.
Do your own math. Search the commercial rate your card charges T-Mo vs $5/mo.
$2.50, call it a draw. $5 is a profit center. Unearned. NOT the Un-Carrier anymore.

I REALLY LOVED TMOBILE….for about 4 years. When my BF and I got our double lines and $10 discount, we were very happy. (We are seniors on the original Magenta Plan. ) Not only that BUT "back" when we signed up, we got 20gb fast hotspot each month for each phone, Well 2 years later, we noticed WHEN we had to use our HS it slowed down after an hour or so - called TMOBILE and they said we NEVER had 20g fast hotspot on our Magenta acount - and there was no proof of course, even though we KNEW we had it. (I EVEN found the original ad floating around the internet; took a pic on my phone and showed it to them - they still denied our lan ever had that fast of GB - but a few weeks later, you couldn't find that ad anywhere on the net) Come to find out later that TM upped the next Magenta account after ours (For a $20 increase) greedy and the worst is they wouldn't admit it. Anyway NOW this, they can keep my $10 and play with it all night long - i will NOT add a bank account or debit card - thats just asking for another breach. Unfortunately ALL the phone companies are like this, or I would switch in a minute...

Well they are removing my auto pay with credit card starting November 20, 2023. I will not give my debit or checking account info. They have been hacked multiple times.
Credit cards have zero liability versus your banking info. Someone fraudulently charges your credit card it gets removed. Someone charges your debit card you can kiss your money away the bank will not give it back. Also possibility is that this had nothing to do with fees from credit companies it's an INFORMAL way of INCREASING YOUR SERVICE CHARGES but claiming that they are being charged unreasonable fees from credit companies. Guess what T-Mobile there is a charge for debit transactions/ACH usually it the same rate.
Suggestion maybe re-negotiate your fees. Switch processing companies.Your plan to require people to provide debit/account info is to LOSE BUSINESS. You will have a lower profits or be running your business NEGATIVE.
Time to look for another carrier.

Hey T-Mobile, if you're were planning on costing me ten more dollars per month, that's ok. In the meantime, I've turned off Auto-Pay and Paperless Billing. Bless your heart! I pray to the lord to have another three million customers just do the same I did; only three million more customers, please lord.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone :)
T-Mobile is either playing dumb or it is not an act!

I pay with a credit card on file but all transactions that aren't in cash has a digital foot print saved to who you're paying to so basically paying by bank transfer is going to leave a record in T-Mobile’s system that hackers will have access to.

Give me a break!! T-Mobile is worried about the 3% credit card charge? Really? T-Mobile is a mega company & the 3% cc fees they're charged is tax deductible!!!!! How dare them!!
They're making plenty of money & are reneging on promises they've made to their customers, " You're fee will never go up"! They're becoming hugely greedy & what will be next? The pricelock is for the plan not any fees.
