Z Fold/Flip 3 Android 12 Update
Samsung advised users of the Fold and flip 3 to ask T-Mobile why they have yet to release the android 12 update. Verizon and At&t released already and T-Mobile has not. Samsung said they have done their part and now its 100% on T-Mobile. So what's the hold up?

I just used an old AT&T sim. It rebooted and the android 12 update popped up. BAM!!

Same here, luckily I had an old Verizon SIM that was still active. I installed on my z fold 3 and after a couple reboots I checked for the update and there it was. It's just sad that we have to resort to such tricks to get an update, definitely Tmobile is dropping the ball big time here.

I ended up buying a Google fi SIM card. I turned off my phone took out the T-Mobile SIM card and put in the Google fi SIM card. Then turn my phone back on and it asked me to restart to apply sim updates. After it restarted I went to settings check for update and it immediately began downloading. I did not sign up for Google fi or even download the Google fi app.
Was your phone unlocked? Because I just tried what you did and it did not work.

Mine was, I bought it unlocked straight from Samsung.

Mine is unlocked directly from Samsung as well this trick might not work if was bought directly from tmobile as you just can't switch carriers until it's unlocked.

The issue isn't the phone being unlocked. Even with my phone being unlocked it's still going through the T-Mobile Update Page.
So unless it was purchased unlocked directly from Samsung, it won't work.

As of January 9th 2022 still no android 12 update nor a response or explanation from t mobile. This is not putting the customer first. This is unacceptable

solutions provided here are for unlocked devices and people who have sim cards to swap out. so any customer who brought phones financed from t-mobile are screwed ? We are still paying for the phone . this is exactly the reason android devices get a bad rap unlike apple devices .. and all the android enthusiasts are at the mercy of carriers.

the site here is primarily peer to peer..if you are going to get any answer in here it’ll be from another customer..

My wife and I both bought our unlocked directly from Samsung but we still don't have the update. Supposedly once you put the T-Mobile SIM Card in and it registers with their network then you're on the hook for their update gating unless you wipe the device. This is what I've found claimed by others around the internet, but I can't find any official statement from T-Mobile or Samsung to validate it.
