iPhone wil not send an RCS message after updating to iOS 18
After iOS 18 was made available, I had downloaded the update on my iPhone 13 Pro Max. I was anticipating trying out the RCS messaging feature, I discovered right away that it isn’t allowing rcs messages to be sent or received.
in order to try to resolve the issue I went and searched for solutions. I have tried, restarting the phone, toggling on and off airplane mode, and resetting network settings. NONE of these solutions worked. last thing I did was I checked for a carrier updated and it is up to date. I further checked the IMS status and it shows that only voice and sms is allowed, and RCS is missing. knowing that is under E-SIM, I knew it had to do with T-mobile.
I have called T-Mobile customer care 3 times. the first call, they weren't knowledgeable on the subject of RCS. eventually I was transferred to a "Tech Specialist" that created a trouble ticket. a second call to see If I could get a knowledgeable customer service rep and I was referred to Apple suspecting it was a software problem. Apple refers me back to T-mobile stating that they don't have control over the RCS working on the network and that is the issue of T-Mobile.
attempt 3 with T-Mobile consisted of deleting my E-SIM and downloading a new one, which did not fix the RCS unavailability fiasco. I was suggested that I do a factory reset or a settings reset but at this point I don't think this the problem. Has anyone experienced this problem? if so have you resolved it? whad did you do? if it is all about IMS allowing RCS, how did you fix that? thanks in advance.

I solved it!!!! I've gotten rcs to work on my iPhone 16 pro. Go to cellular turn off your e sim or physically remove it. Wait 10 minutes. Restart device. Then go turn it back on.
Did u do “turn on this line” or delete e sim do turn on this line

Support from just about any company will say whatever to get you off of the phone. With it working on other Apple devices and RCS has been working for Android users for 2+ years now on all of the major US carriers. It's more than likely your device or something on Apple's end. T-Mobile has absolutely no control over what flows through iMessage or how iMessage works because iMessage uses your data to directly connect to Apple's servers. Have you tried performing a Network Reset on your device to see if that resolves it for you?

T-Mobile has control over whether RCS is supported or not. Not apple. All apple did was implement the feature on iOS 18. After that it is the carrier's territory in the matter. That's why in other carriers they do not support RCS will not have it on a device that is ready for RCS. So once again it's not iMessage as this isn't an iMessage feature but a messaging feature dependent on the carrier. This is what the tech rep told me and publication about RCS says the same thing. Lastly all trouble shooting methods were done with no successful fix.

If that was the case, then iMessage users could have had RCS years ago, but that isn't how it works. Apple is feeding you a line of B/S. RCS is integrated into iMessage. That was the whole point of what the EU forced upon Apple.

Exactly my ooont. That being said g said, I just got a call from technical
suooort and they said they they have software to updated as well for RCS to work with older iPhones allegedly. It is a wait and see at this point.

iMessage doesn't dictate RCS. It is new feature added and turned on via a toggle switch but ultimately it's is on the carrier to make it work after RCS is turned on. I discovered this when I played with another iPhone and turned the iMessage off and still saw RCS working.

T-Mobile doesn't run through their own servers when it comes to RCS. Carriers have long abandoned their own versions to run through Jibe. If you have problems with RCS then you need to talk to Google, and Apple.

Confirmed by who? A friend on mine with an iPhone 12 isn't having any issues. Android users with RCS issues are carrier related. It's something with their device.

Its my ims and carrier I reset my eSIM but still not working
I did the same thing and that didn't work either. In a 4th attempt after they allegedly filed a trouble ticket, I was told that it was a software update issue on their (T-Mobile) end that is causing the issue. Makes no sense but whatever.
