Why are we being penailzed for paying with a credit card?
T-Mobile already took away the $5 discount that I had for auto-pay, and now will add a $10 penalty if I do not give them a debit card or bank account!!! This is daylight robbery and I am very disappointed in these tactics. I have been with T-mobile since 2006, now I will probably have to change providers. The $10 increase is more than any credit card company charges fees for processing a transaction. Really T-Mobile???

I AGREE, I just phoned them tonight to announce that if they don't grandfather current customers who were PROMISED no price changes via Auto Pay, I'm out of here. I currently have a phone on Visible where I get unlimited for $15 TOTAL per month for a year and then $30/Month thereafter. I'm not giving T-Mobile my banking or debit card information that can be compromised with little or no protection, unlike my current credit card because they're too cheap to lose the $2.60 on my current charges due to Credit Card fees. Some corporate cat is getting a bonus on this change and messing with a promise made by T-Mobile when we joined up.

I looked into it a few months ago but the added $10 is still cheaper than any other carrier out there for my plan.

Credit card companies have varying rates, and 6% is simply not true. Even Amex is a bit less. Why lie? And for a major user of credit card services, T Mobile probably gets a discounted rate. Fact is, T Mobile states that it will charge me 10% to use credit card auto pay. Even if their fee is 6%, they're using this scam to make 4% more on my account. I thought T Mobile was a stand up company, but looks like they are corrupt liars. And cheaters.

T-Mobile says they have "Price Lock Guarantee," but today I found they have decided to try an underhanded way to break that promise. When I signed up part of my package was a $5 discount per line if on Auto Pay. I had that on paying with a credit card which gives me protection for breakage or theft on my phones.
I'm finding a new company...how about you? These big corporations need to understand they can't just keep changing the rules and keep customers!!! - KkershawRoaming Rookie
I Have Been with T Mobile 27 years but with the recent not accepting credit cards for auto pay discounts I will not give my account information to them they have been way to careless with breaches so I guess it may be time to look at leaving.

T mobile changed my billing to a credit card that I did not authorize them to change it to. I have used the same credit card for quite some time with no issues what so ever. For whatever reason they changed this without my authorization. They need to correct this issue immediately or show proof that I authorized this change, which I know they can't, unless they are being fraudulent. Let's have some answers why t mobile is changing the way I pay without my permission! Edited, shortly after posting. Solved problem myself. Cancelled auto pay and paperless billing so they can spend their money to get that extra $10 I will have to pay. Also will not be paying early anymore, like I have always done. No way will t mobile have any access to my bank account. I think if a lot of customers will do this it should make t mobile really happy.

Okay, I just finished a phone call with a T-Mobile CSR and she confirmed that T-Mobile will accept EFT payments from a customer’s bank to T-Mobile’s bank (i.e. “Bill Pay”) and the Auto Pay discount will still apply!
So my bank account information is protected, T-Mobile doesn't incur a fee to receive the EFT payment and the Auto Pay discount is still in effect. Everybody wins!
¡Uf!

I have autopay setup for the discount. but I pay my bill before the autopay is set to come out. have done this since I set it up. saves me money and just in case I have a senior moment my bill is still paid on time

I have the same concerns as my fellow T-Mobile customers regarding the restrictions on using Auto Pay payment options.
Like many of us, I called a T-Mobile CSR (Customer Service Representative) to complain.
The response was, “Credit Card fees are costing T-Mobile too much money in processing fees, so the decision was made to allow only debit card or direct bank account withdrawal. There is nothing I can do about it."
Here is a website that explains credit card fees:
Consulta: https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/small-business/credit-card-processing-fees
According to the above website, it would cost T-Mobile between $1.50 - $3.50 for one $100.00 transaction, depending upon the credit card company.
The fees are also a business expense that T-Mobile can deduct from taxes owed.
Some banks also charge to use a debit card, which we as individuals cannot write off on our income tax due.
I can’t believe that merchants like T-Mobile don’t band together and petition the U.S. Government to demand lower fees from these banks but it’s easier to pass the cost onto the consumer.
I have an account with a credit union that allows customers to electronically send a payment from my account to a merchant. This means T-Mobile does not have direct access to the account but receives the payment when I initiate the transaction.
I’m going to contact T-Mobile and see if they are agreeable to that.

Does anyone else think the punitive change in bill payment is ridiculous? When I signed up, I could get a $10 discount if I agreed to auto pay via a credit card. Now, T Mobile says we must give them open and unlimited access to our banking information or we lose the $10 discount. One hacking of their system makes it possible for thieves to empty my entire bank account--something that cannot happen with a credit card. I was told it is because of problems with rejected or closed credit card accounts. So, they punish EVERYONE for the actions of a few deadbeats? I am actively looking around and will leave T Mobile for this arbitrary and dangerous demand. Giving them my debit card number or banking information is far too risky in this day of professional hackers. I hope they lose millions of customers because of this idiocy of punishing everyone for the actions of a few.
