Service in Mexico (Go5G Plus)
We are traveling to Playa del Carmen in Mexico for vacation and we are all on the Go5G Plus plan. Can anyone verify that service in Mexico is included? We will mostly be in tourist areas. Do talk and text work the same? Is 5G service available in those metro areas?
Most importantly, is there anything I need to do to our phones before we go, or does everything work seemlessly?
Go5G plans include roaming in Canada and Mexico. However, the data is not unlimited in a usable way. Go5G Plus plans get 15GB of high speed data and then throttled down to data speeds of 256kbps. Speeds that slow are practically not useful for anything smartphones do today. Texting and calling to and from Mexico work the same as if you are in the US.
Make sure you have roaming turned on in your device settings. If you plan on using lots of data. Considering purchasing an add-on for more data. Roaming in Mexico does not apply to cruise ships.
