TMOG4AR Gateway
How do I go about replacing my T-Mobile Arcadian gateway with the newer TMOG4AR gateway?
@NYJack according to a few articles about the new T-Mobile gateway, they will only be available for new customers. But, nothing prevents you from boxing yours up, walking into your local T-Mobile store and ask for an exchange.

Just downloaded and used hint control. Works amazingly easy! Just another of the many reasons Apple products are the worst. I used an Macbook pro for 2 years for school and couldn't wait to get back to a Windows pc. There are just so many things you simply can't do with apple that are so easy with Android and Windows. You should get a cheap android just to use on wifi so that you can accomplish some basic tasks.

I called support to see about exchange and was told it was only for new lines of service. So, I said OK as long as it is still the basic Home Internet and the the plus plan. So my cost would be the same. After I get it and have it setup and working, I will cancel my old line of service. That is the only way we could make it happen and still have support from T-Mobile.

Ever since Legere left TMO has been shifting away from being the uncarrier to being the uncaring. Sievert is an idiot and he will eventually lose to the likes of Verizon or AT&T who are out gunning for him. So I've had the tin can gateway since 2021. Been considering hacking it with external antennas since I installed it. Early on I tried the internal wifi, but gave up after being knocked off so many times. Even with my own rock solid ddwrt wifi, the gateway needs love & attention daily. I have it connected to a smart plug to "hard reset" it every morning at 3am (when not in use). That does help. But now with the neighborhood despondent with Spectrum services, many are switching to T-Mobile so the congestion is increasing. I should mention I've been working in IT for 35 years if it wasn't already apparent. So after talking to several sales reps in the brick & mortar shops, they advised that a new G4AR or G4SE gateways are the way to go, but I'd have to call in for one. So today I gave it a shot and totally missed the mark. Ethan my rep advised me that my plan is "too low" to switch to the G4AR/SE (thanks Sievert I know you've had a hand in that pricing) -- note too that I've been paying $50 monthly since 2021 (no deals no specials no changes). But now TMO wants more money to give me a working gateway for my poor service connected area? I guess so! Ethan went on that we would need to "troubleshoot" before moving forward, and that I "may" end up with just another replacement tin can. Whoa! No going to do useless troubleshooting with this guy, pay more in services, just to get the same thing I already have again. Way I see it, I have four options: 1. do nothing and live with it 2. attempt to hack my tin can 3. go back to TMO and fight my ass off for the G4AR upgrade or 4. switch to another provider like Verizon or AT&T. Not the best options but they are what they are I guess. No sure which way I'm going to go yet. I've been with TMO since 2002 in Honolulu, and did love the era of the uncarrier, not a fan of the new uncaring era though. May be dropping services soon -- remember that Sievert! Also since I work services for multiple government accounts --- might need to consider dropping some services over there too (you know, just for better planning & pricing). Ha!

You and me on the same boat, sharing the same story and struggle I had to go through, except the lady I was talking to she didn't understand the problem and she said she is going to send me the new device, which sound really crazy so I asked her twice is it the new device with external antenna option and she replied yes. An hour later I received a text about my order being processed,. So I went to check on the web to found the device been processed is the KVD21 same as the one I have. Any way I end up canceling the service.
Me too. I will try to get the new Gateway G4AR at a TMO Store near me, if not, then I will have to go back to Xfinity. My Home Internet has been up and down in the last few days.

Anyone else getting a login error using HINT Control? I have the arcadyan kvd21… getting real frustrated trying to figure out a way to turn off this wifi. I know I have the right username and password.
The error is “Not Authorized, Access token is missing or invalid”, statusCode”:401

The T-Mobile gateways are just that - gateways for the users to access their internet bandwidth. More features than basic on-off requires a router or something like HINT control.

Remember, if anything goes wrong, you can just factory reset the TMO gateway,
Of course, another option would be to have a family member or a friend with an Android phone download the Hint Control app from the Google Play Store, join your network and turn off the gateway’s Wi-Fi from the Hint Control app (in the W-Fi tab).
Hint Control is available for Android, Windows, Linux, MacOS, and iOS via Flight Control
