Unable to place international calls
I purchased the internatonal plan. I am outside of the states now. I can text but unable to place calls. Would you please tell me the steps to place the phone calls.

Ok, I'm about a year late to this, but just had same issue and tried the +1, and tried 001 too to no avail. What I eventually did was go into the cell settings on my iphone and went into network which was showing as MOE. The setting on this page was on auto. I turned it off and then changed the network from MOE to NOS and was suddenly able to call no issues. I did not try the vodaphone network. Hopefully this helps others.
I had the same problem for 10 days during a European vacation, for the first time ever. I called T-Mobile support and wasted 30 minutes getting elevated up the chain and no one had a solution. Finally came on this thread and the solution above by Tharnax worked. Had to switch the automatic carrier off and manually select which local carrier I wanted. The fourth one worked. Amazing that T-Mobile technical support doesn't know this.
Addendum to comment above. I was always able to call back to US but not to European countries.

It's amazing that you think that it's amazing that T-Mobile doesn't know this.. You must be new here? Nine times out of 10 you get someone overseas that is putting your question in on the computer in front of them and getting a generated response to tell you. If it seems like a feasible issue and they don't know, it's because T-Mobile does not want them to know or you to know for that matter.
I can’t wait for the day to watch this company go down in flames..I am currently traveling in SE Asia. Have international plan. Voice calls ok to US but cannot call in-country. Tried in Japan, and now in Thailand. Tried all the recommended actions in this thread. Frustrating as a 23 year customer
