Slow Home internet
So the internet was down for the first time yesterday morning. I called in and was told they were activly working at the site and be patient. It came up a few hours later at about 4 meg down for the day. I figured well they have it on a bandiaid so atleast people can check email etc. Today its still running 4 meg down. I usually get 300 500 down or more. So whats the scoops? Silver Springs Nevada. Only one site out here for T Mobile 5G home internet and its been stellar till now.
We were having inconsistent connectivity to 5g for a few weeks. Called and was told they're "upgrading" the towers. Comes back for a while, then it's back to 4g. The 4g isn't bad, but we're subscribed to 5g service. Strangely when I ignore the direction they tell me to aim my gateway I get 3x the speed, even with only good connectivity. Think there's a 5g tower further away that always has a 5g signal. Bottom line...move your gateway around the house. You'll be surprised.

I chatted (on-line text chat) with a support person yesterday. They confirmed that home internet users only connect to T-mobile towers. Also, in my case they said that there was an ongoing issue with the local tower that has open since at least May-22 (3 weeks ago). They could not give me an expected date when normal service would be restored, just that I'd receive an email when this occurs.

So as an update still its SLOW at 5:30pm today. I certianly will cancel this so fast if this doesnt get fixed. 500 meg to 4 meg is not what i signed up for. Maybe they are still working on the site however, I doubt it. One option the site was put on a "limp" mode and only designates small amouts of data to users until the parts needed arrive to update/fix. Usually most crews have everything they need x2 in the service trucks. I will be calling customer service in whatever country its sent out to tommorrow if things are not back up to par.

I’ve had the same problem since the beginning of May. My download speeds have dropped from 70Mb down to 1-4 Mb, depending on when I check, and uploads have decreased down to 0.05 Mbit. It’s almost as bad as dial-up.
When I first called they told me it was a problem with the tower in my area and it would be repaired in a few days. However, service never improved after 2 weeks, so I called again. This time I was told that there was no issue with the tower, but it could be my modem/router. They sent a "new" one (it was previously used, did not include the power adapter, and had an older data of manufacture than what I already had) with no improvement, so I sent that back yesterday.
They also promised to call me last Saturday morning to check how the replacement modem was working, but they did not honor that promise.
They also suggested that my problem was due to a difference in my recorded usage address and my actual usage address, so we updated that information, but I checked it and found that the information on my account via Tmobile.com had not been updated.
I decided to take the modem in my car to a few different locations to see if the signal strength was the issue and it worked fine in good locations.
I did some investigating on my own, and I found a website that shows cell tower ID# and signal strength at your location. It showed that my location had a very weak signal from the nearest T-mobile tower, but a much better signal from an AT&T tower. I was able to confirm that my modem was connecting to the T-mobile tower. My guess (only a guess) is that before May my modem was connecting to the AT&T tower, but now they are forcing it to use the T-mobile tower.
