home internet service gateway
715 TopicsHome internet service IPv6 traffic is all filtered even when using a Netgear LTE router. No port forwarding. Plz fix!
My background is in IT / networking and I started using Tmo Home Internet for the past 2 weeks. The router being shipped today to customers is missing very important features for power users - it actually broke my ability to remotely access my home via direct-connection using public IPv6 and IPv4 that I used on comcast. Contacting support for help is pretty much useless, although I have raised a few tickets regarding the major issues affecting me since switching ISPs, namely: Unable to ping my IPv6 WAN address given by T-mobile (to remotely monitor my internet connection) Unable to remotely access my home via my VPN server which listens to connections on the WAN IPv6 address (again, T-mobile is filtering ALL my incoming traffic - comcast, att fiber, other major players in the market don't do this filtering to endpoints except for spam port 25) Connecting to a VPN server hosted on the internet is unreliable and unstable. T-mobile does not offer IPv6 Prefix Delegation (comcast has it, att fiber does too) I've spent the majority of my time trying to figure out ways to make this work. Most folks out there are blaming the Nokia router firmware which is really locked down by T-mobile, so being the IT engineer I pretend to be I purchased a Netgear LAX20 which is T-mobile and AT&T certified - I swapped SIMs for my Home internet service and tested both. Even with a router that I fully control, with firewall disabled and allowing WAN icmp/ping responses T-mobile seems to continue to filter traffic (even pings!) incoming towards my service equipment…to make a fair comparison I got an AT&T SIM card and repeated the tests. On AT&T I can ping and access my device remotely when it is on the AT&T LTE network on the same Netgear LAX20. Decided to post here to vent and share some findings, as this is somewhat frustrating that other LTE carriers that do not offer 'home internet' service do allow you to control and manage your network as you see fit while the new "home internet" service does not give you any control at all. Those users who wish to be able to remotely manage their smart home should perhaps stay away for now until T-mobile decides to do the right thing which is for "home internet" service subscribers to have different security network rules than cellphones on the network. T-mobile please fix your business model for this new service, starting with adding the ability to request zero network filtering for home internet subscribers and the ability to get IPv6 prefix delegated.22KViews51likes57ComentariosHome Internet Static IP
Is it possible to get a static IP with the 5G Home Internet service? Normally I wouldn't need it but since my connection dies at least once a week I get a new IP every time my modem reboots. I work from home and whenever my IP changes I have to update some of my clients' firewalls.40KViews29likes95ComentariosITS TIME TO SUE T-MOBILE BAD INTERNET SERVICE

I recently started testdriving T-Mobile home internet at my house, and it's worked great for everything except games, where I'm having a weird issue with some of them. When I try to play Apex Legends on PC, the game will connect and play really smooth for anywhere from 1-3minutes, and then all communication will be lost, which will take 20 seconds for the game to kick me out to the main menu. If I go back into the game from the main menu, it'll work fine untill the 1-3minutes elapses. During all of this my PC never loses connection, and this issue occurs over wifi and ethernet. This issue probably does not lie with the game as this issue does not occur with other ISPs, and it did not coincide with an update. A similar issue is happening with Splatoon 3 on the Nintendo Switch, where the game will play superb for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before dropping the connection. Is this a known issue with the service or gateway, is there anyway I can debug my connection, and does anyone know anyway that could possibly remedy the situation? I'd love to keep the home internet, but one of the main things I use the internet for is games, meaning this service wouldn't work for me.25KViews19likes97Comentarios5G Home Internet nightly slow down
Hey all, I've had the black 5G gateway for a couple days now, and have been a T-Mobile customer for just as long. I guess the issue I'm having is looking like one that a lot of other people are as well. During the day my gateway pulls about 500 Mbps and has a "Very Good" signal. Without moving or changing anything about the setup, usage area, or anything, around 8PM Eastern my speeds go down to MAX 5 Mbps. Nothing has changed other than the time of the day. I have a ticket open for the "local engineering department" to troubleshoot. It'll randomly be good during the night and then go back to the unusable 5 Mbps. I relayed this to Customer Care, and while they seem sympathetic to the plight, they ultimately just want me to continuously restart the gateway so they can reconnect it to the tower because it has "stopped communicating." Is this the common reply that everyone is getting? Restart on restart while waiting for engineers to troubleshoot your wifi, only tothen get told you need to restart to be reconnected to the tower, and then ultimately a factory default when they've exhausted their checklist?20KViews17likes63ComentariosMesh Wi-Fi 6 System
On the new grey 5G home internet box, when you connect to its web page (typicallyhttp://192.168.12.1/), on the Overview screen, under the Devices panel, one of the items listed is "Mesh Wi-Fi 6 System", just above "Wireless" and "Ethenet". This implies a third way of networking devices (it currently says 0 connected). I have a DecoWi-Fi 6 mesh router and was wondering if they could be interconnected by something other than an ethnet cable. Is this something that is currently implemented or is it just a planned feature for a future expansion? On their product page (https://www.t-mobile.com/isp/gateway) where it lists device features, it also says "Mesh expandable Yes", but I haven't found any details about this in the documentation.35KViews16likes59ComentariosNAT (Forwarding) in T-Mobile Gateway
I recently signed up for T-Mobile internet, and I am VERY disappointed that I could not even forward NATtraffic to my home security system. I saw that this was discussed 7 months ago in a previous thread, and hope the developers will notice this. The speed is great, and the same as was advertised in the chat. I would like this issue to be resolved so that I don't need to continue with Optimum (Morris Broadband).66KViews13likes51Comentariostmobile home internet speed issues
