7 TopicsUnexplained Skyrocket of 5G Home Internet Usage
I called T-Mobile support about this, but they really didn't have any answers for me, so wanted to see if anyone else had experienced anything like this. My TM 5G Home Internet usage skyrocketed without any change in our household's usage behavior during this current billing cycle (May 2023). We have the Nokia 5G21 Gateway. In March we used 66.55 GB, April was 9.23 GB and May is 417.31 GB. I've checked all the devices connected to our home network and have been able to identify them all, so I don't think anyone is tapping into our network. We aren't experiencing any decrease in speeds or dropping of the network, so maybe I don't have any reason to be concern, the jump in data usage was just alarming, since we only really web browse, stream video and connect smart home devices. We don't do anything that would send massive data outwards, either. A few things I noticed in my usage reports over the last few months was the number of reports jumping from 8 in March and 1 in April to over 3,000 in May. Also, the previous reports showed as "Mobile Internet," whereas May's report shows all as "Internet Access." So those were both odd.669Visto0likes6ComentariosHow to check data usage for Home Internet
I recently got T-Mobile Home Internet and I love it. However, I'd like to see how much data each device (or at least all devices) are using on the device. How can I check this out? The phone app does not show me this information, and when I log into the console via the admin IP, it doesn't show me this information either. How can I find out data usage? I have a attached a cropped out image (I'm hiding the serial number) of basically all that I see in the console. There is no data usage information. ¡Gracias!Solved6.6KViews0likes10ComentariosWhy so much data usage compared to old service?
I am new to T-Mobile Home Internet. With the Light version, we are allowed only 100GB per billing period then we would either have the bandwidth throttled back or pay for the next tier. I noticed after my first day, data usage was a bit above 3GB. That's without watching any videos. If that keeps up, I will be on the verge of using the allotted 100GB. With AT&T, I was given 350GB, but the system was terribly slow. That's why I moved to T-Mobile. Besides that, I rarely went over 72GB per month even while streaming a full length movie at least four of five times a month. So, does T-Mobile measure data bandwidth usage differently than AT&T? I might find myself adding another 50GB at $25 if this keeps up. Also, Light subscribers pay $50, which is the same amount that unlimited 5G subscribers pay. That's a bit unfair, but they claim it's to keep people from using too much data and congesting the towers. Hmm...332Visto0likes6ComentariosPretty sure they are throttling back
Pretty sure they are now throttlingback on us every afternoon. Our service is terrible to begin with, by midafternoon at high use periods we drop to 3mbps or less. That's down from the lightning fast 40mbps we normally suffer with. We were sold 188mbps to 250mbps by the salesman. He was pretty much full of crap too. Albuquerque tech support said he would sort it out and get back to me, never did. Calling the 800 support lines is a total joke, you get Filipino's that can scarcely speak English and can't even read the Q and A manuals they are told to never deviate from.99Visto0likes1ComentarioDATA USAGE ACCURACY
Been monitoring our daily usage because we're on an expensive tiered plan. When exceptionally high usage shows up, I note activities that may be the cause--such as Zooms, streaming video, etc. Even though we're on a "data diet", T-Mobile has been reporting some exceptionally high usage that doesn't jibe with our activity. Anyone else experience this?1.5KViews1like14ComentariosInternet data usage
I recently switched to T-Mobile internet service. They say that it's unlimited data but at the same time tell you that your download speeds may decrease when a certain amount of data is used in a particular month. What is the data limit allowed before it actually slows down and how do I check my internet data usage? The website seems to allow me to check my cellular data usage but not my internet data usage.246Visto0likes1Comentario
