Re: Feature Request - Home Internet Gateway DHCP Settings
Let's all get on the same page. The options are: A - get TMO to add comprehensive DHCP features to the gateway B - get TMO to support bridge mode for using one's own router with existing DHCP features Personally, I think option A will take a long time to roll out because they would need a lot of firmware development and no matter how well they do, people will still demand more features. Option B sounds more logical to me because the "I need more DHCP features" moves out of TMO hands and back to the respective router makers and allows everyone to get the router that best fits their needs.9Visto7likes0ComentariosRe: The worst customer service
I sympathize for all of you that have unresolved issues. With so many customers there are going to be mistakes and with so much automated systems, one-off type problems can seemingly go around in circles. I switched to TMobile about 10 years ago coming over from ATT. My last year of ATT, I literally had to call every month for 6 months to get them to correct my bill, which they always did but with a promise that it won't happen again. On the 6th time I made sure the noted my ultimatum - if I have to call one more time it will be to cancel. The rest is history, but one of the more satisfying calls I've ever made when I canceled and the poor cancellation guy asking the innocent question of "why are you cancelling?". The switch from ATT to TMobile was not without issues. I can't remember the details from that time, but the numbers weren't adding up on what I was told I would get reimbursed and TMO agreeing with my math. It look 4-5 calls to get it straightened out and back then TMO was fairly generous with "we're sorry" credits and I got something like $400 for all my troubles (on top of all the trade in credits I was due). I think they just credited me a couple months of service. Havingbeen on TMO for 10+ years, I have on average 2-4 issues per year but those were all triggered by something changing in my account - changing plans, adding lines, various promotions etc. I have experienced TMO support staff whowere not knowledgable and made mistakes to my account before a more senior TMO support person had to correct. There has been just one time as a TMO customer where a phone rep really got me upset and that was a supervisor who I hope has been fired. Yes, the offshore support is a little difficult understand at times but not impossible. I also have seen no correlation of difficult to understand versus how well they could manage issues. I would rather have offshore on off hours rather than no support at all. Every time I was overcharged, everything got corrected down to the penny. These generally showed up in the next bill. In the last couple years, it seems reps are now limited to $10 discretionary credit if they feel you deserve it for your troubles. I could stop there, but I have also had a couple instances where the billing errors were in my favor. Although I don't have to, I call anyway to let them know and every time they tell my it's their mistake and don't worry about it. Overall I would give a B grade where in comparison I would give an A to Amazon (due to the rarity of issues and how issues are instantly resolved via chat 24x7). I probably spend roughly the same per year on both TMO and Amazon. I would nevergo back to ATT (promise made promise kept LOL) but if I would consider switching to Verizon, I doubt I would get better customer support and there are no plans that come close to what I'm getting from TMO and the price I'm paying. That's the last thing I'll add is that TMO is the only carrier I know that let's you keep whatever plan you have "for life". I started with just voice and data 10 years ago on a plan that is no longer offered. I only changed plans once and that was when family plan was first offered. However as all these extras were added on new plans (mobile hotspot, Netflix, airplane data, etc), somehow all of those were added to my original familyplan at no additional costs. All I had to do was opt in. Staying true to their word, TMO never removed those features and never charged me more. I also started with a corp discount and even if I leave my company it will still be honored. On a side note, I also signed upfor TMO's streaming live TV, TVision. It was great and cheaper than any other competitor. Unfortunately they shut down the service but rather than just say "sorry". They cut a deal with YouTubeTV where all prior TVision customers would get a $10 discount for life. I am in year 2 of that discount. There are times I wanted to vent on some of the more frustrating problems, but each time I ask myself am I going to stay on TMO, it's a resounding yes purely because the price and features. I can live with so so support. In fact rather than investing in more support capabilities, I would rather TMO givemore features for free.4Visto4likes0ComentariosRe: T-Mobile Bait and Switch scam on December 2021 "Free" upgrade to IPhone13 + airpods
For promotional trade ins (meaning higher trade in than fair market value), here is how the math works: As long as you get the quote for your phone model with accurate condition, you should get the full amount. For example, if the promotion tells you the trade in device qualifies for $1000 for your selected new device, then that is what you will get. Once you accept, your phone will get assessed "fair market value" as decided by TMO 3rd party trade in service Assurant. For example, let's say FMV says your phone is worth $500 even though you qualified for $1000 trade in. The $500 FMV will be spread over 24 months statement credit. In this example the monthly credit will be 20.83. Your last credit will be a little more to true up rounding. Since the $500 in monthly credit does not cover your $1000 trade in promotion, TMO will issue you a one time $500 bill credit up front on your next bill. The monthly credit and the one time up from credit will equal $1000. Now for what you get charged for your new phone is a little confusing: Let's say you buy a $1000 new phone and that makes the trade in basically "free". However, you still have to pay sales tax, shipping, and activation. You get charged this up front and cannot use credits to pay for it, This does not show up on your bill since you have to pay when you order your new phone. Now what you basically have is a zero down, zero interest loan over 24 months so you will be charged $41.67 per month with the last payment a little less to true up rounding to total $1000. On your first bill, you will see the following: One time credit of $500. Monthly equipment installment charge of $41.67 Monthly trade in credit of $20.83 On your 2 of 24 bill and onward thru 24 of 24 you will see: Monthly equipment installment charge of $41.67 Monthly trade in credit of $20.83 If those on this thread did not get the up front credit and the monthly credits fall short of the full credit promised, then there is definitely a problem and you might want to escalate directly on TMO twitter help thread. Hopefully this information is useful. I've traded in promotions many times and it always calculates out to the exact amount as promised. I have to admit though a couple months after trade in I do occasionally go "WTF why am I being billed for this phone?". I just forget that I got the offsetting credit up front in one lump sum.8Visto3likes0ComentariosRe: KVD21 Routing
Unfortunately no, you can't disable DHCP for bridge mode so adding your own router will add another DHCP layer unless you use it in AP mode. You can disable the wifi on Arcadyan. There are YouTube videos on how to do that but requires running some scripts since there is no UI for that.5Visto3likes0ComentariosRe: Are trade-in rebates just a scam?
You will find a number of folks in this community that have similar problems you are having. However, keep in mind that hardly anyone is going to post here that they had no problems. Personally I've had a few issues to no issues on trade ins(11 total as a TMO customer) but always managed to get every last penny I was owed. Additionally, one of the issues ended up in my favor and when I reported it, they said I could keep the extra credits. In my personally opinion if everyone who traded in got "scammed", this would have been shut down a long time ago by FCC (as a mobile carrier) and SEC (as a public company)regulators. Officers of Tmobile would also be in prison. This doesn't help with your specific issues, but it sounds like it was a manual mistake and not a SCAM so you could reach out to Tmobile Twitter support to get help directly.2Visto2likes0ComentariosRe: Copatiible Wifi Extender with the TMobile 5G Internet Gateway?
If these are still working on your old network then that means the devices are likely using the old IP addresses and may even be static. Your old network is likely not on the same subnet as TMO gateway so you can try to factory reset your extenders and setup as new with TMO gateway. Another complication could be that TMO gateway combines by 5 and 2.4 ghz bands into one SSID and you will need to confirm if your extenders support that. If not, you need to manually separate the bands into 2 separate SSIDs using the web UI or TMI app. Also note that TMO gateway does not support WPS so you will need to setup the extenders with whatever app or web UI interface they have.75Visto2likes0ComentariosRe: Purchasing a used Gateway
Gateway is basically a cell phone so yes, you could swap out the SIM card so it has the same number that is already on your account, but TMobile may not allow you to activate the IMEI of the new router. I would recommend you get a written acknowledge from TMO stating they support buying your own router. There is also the question if the new router would get future firmware updates. However, like a cell phone, if any of these units on eBay are stolen, I would imagine Tmobile has already blacklisted the IMEI like they do with phones so even if you get confirmation you can bring your own device, you run the risk of it still not getting service if IMEI is blacklisted.12Visto2likes0Comentarios
