Re: Mesh question
You can technically use any other 3rd party router. You have to decide which mode you want to use inthis configuration: AP mode - your 3rd party router will only setup wireless channels to use but that's about it. All other networking features will be managed by the Tmobile router. For example - static IPs, DNS, QoS that most routers allow you to manage will not work in this mode because the Tmobile router does not have these features. At least all of your devices will be on the same subnet. This is basically what the $10/month option gives you rom Tmobile. DHCP mode - this creates a new subnet behind your 3rd party router that allows you to use whatever advanced features come with the 3rd party router. The downside is you have 2 NAT layers because Tmobile router does not support bridge mode. While most devices and online services will work fine, folks have reported gaming devices and services having issues. Worth a try since you can always go to AP mode if you experience problems. One convenience of the Tmobile mesh is that it uses the same wifi settings as a router. If you go with a 3rd party mesh, it's best to put all of your devices on the 3rd party router's wifi and not use the Tmobile gateway wifi since you can't share the wifi SSIDs across the two devices anyway. I have the Asus Zen mesh setup in DHCP and I have no problems with my internet needs, but I don't play online games. I have Youtube TV, Apple TV, Hulu (not live TV), Netflix, Disney+ and all of them work fine. I also use Nord VPN and a corporate VPN from a Fortune 100 company and those work fine as well.36Visto1like0ComentariosRe: private ip
You have two issues for Tmobile Home Internet: As you noted the assigned IP address has a different geo location than your physical location. The IP address will change frequently throughout the day which also affects your geo location. It sounds like you need a solution that resolves both of the above issues. As far as I know, Home Internet cannot change the way this works. Within this community some have changed to a Business Internet plan from Tmobile that fixes issue #2. I have not read about Tmobile Business Internet also supporting a specific geo location (#1). It's best to call Tmobile directly and ask. There is also the complication that the closest Tmobile network is outside of your physical area so you may not even have an option to fix this issue.26Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Are there fees for removal of my 5G Internet line?
The Home Internet service has no contract so you can cancel at any time. Since you have to cancel at a story or calling Tmobile directly, you can confirm this before you cancel. You will also need to return your gateway device either in store or shipping (pre-paid label from Tmobile).32Visto2likes0ComentariosRe: Mangenta Max, doesn't have more discount for Upgrade the device?
To clarify the OP's question: Trade in - most plans qualify for trade in of your old phone. You can see what your trade in is worth when you select "Upgrade" and shop for a new phone. At least for iPhones, Tmobile standard trade in values are lower than what you can get from Apple. Device Upgrade - this use to be available to many legacy plans but with the recent 5G plans and the elimination of "price for life", only the new 5G plans offer a promotional trade that makes the upgrade cost nearly zero. However, the new 5G plans cost more per month than most legacy plans so you have to run the numbers to see which option costs less in the 2 years that you have to commit. Also note that once you leave your legacy plan, it's a one way ticket and will be lost forever the moment you agree to change. My legacy plan goes all the way back to "One" plan and the last "free" upgrade I got was for my current iPhone 14 Pro. When 15 launched I was no longer offered the promotional device upgrades. Personally I'm not upset since the promotional upgrades was never a standard feature of my legacy plan so I took advantage of it with the expectation that it would not last much longer. From here on out I am going back to just buying straight from Apple and get whatever trade in that Apple offers. So far I've been lucky that my legacy plan rate hasn't changed, but I'm sure that's also not going to last so I want to be free of financial entanglements from Tmobile (unpaid balance, promotional credits, early termination penalties etc) when that happens so I can shop around for the best deal, especially the ones that will shower me with all kinds of up front promotions as a "new" customer.44Visto1like0ComentariosRe: tmobile gateway connection no internet
Since you mentioned "moving around", if you meant trying to use the home internet somewhere other than your home address on file, then Tmobile recently put a hard stop on that and use geo fencing to make sure it only works at your physical home address. In order to be able to take the gateway with you to other locations, you need the RV option which costs more.64Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: T-mobile gives a locked phone when they say phone on us --- its a trap
grumppy wrote: T-mobile gives a locked phone when they say phone on us --- its a trap. Whats the point having a Iphone where one cannot use all features of the iphOne. "Locked" means cell data and service will only work on Tmobile's network. All other features and capabilities are unaffected. The promotion is in two parts - 1) you get billed in equal amounts over the promotional period for the full price of thee phone 2) you are issued an equal credit to bring your monthly net payment for the phone $0. In order to make it worthwhile to Tmobile they require you to stay on their service for the promotional period and when that ends, the phone is yours and you did not pay anything for it and you can also unlock the phone so it will work on any carrier's service. I don't know of any carrier that gives you a phone for free where you can immediately cancel service and still own the phone without having to pay the balance off.37Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Dynamic IP issues ONLY with Hulu LIVE - or any Hulu?
The IP issue is only for live TV services due to regional restrictions. I use Youtube TV for live which thankfully uses the GPS in my mobile phone to confirm location. I also have Hulu and Disney and have not had any problems for the past 2+ years on Tmobile Home internet.24Visto0likes0Comentarios
