Re: Gateway G4AR Router
You are fortunate to be one of the early receptors of this gateway which was only recently released. There's a lot of interest in how it will perform especially for those in need of adding an external antenna. This is the first gateway they've offered that includes external antenna connectors. There are people within this community much more knowledgable than I, so perhaps they'll share their thoughts as well. If this gateway works as all their others do, which I assume it would, it supposedly requires an LTE signal to operate. It will work without a 5G signal, but typically poorly. I believe a standalone LTE router works better when no 5G signal is available. The gateway will select the tower/bands automatically. There is no way to manually select them with any routers provided by T-Mobile. T-Mobile might be able to selectively adjust themselves if you have issue and give them a call, but I'm not sure exactly what they do. You also can check on Nater Tater's YouTube channel for more information about all the gateways. I believe there might be a non-T-Mobile router he discusses that allows the user to lock on to specific towers, but my memory is a little hazy on that. In general, T-Mobile has greatly locked down the gateways, so very little customization is possible. This includes very minimal options for the router functions which many users have found frustrating.14Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Sagemcom Home Internet Gateway - access Admin Settings
Unfortunately there are no advanced settings for the T-Mobile Home Internet gateway/router. For whatever reason they have decided to limit users ability to make any changes beyond the very basic setup that you see within the app. You are actually already signed in as an administrator on the app, perhaps scanning the barcode on the gateway signed you in if you don't recall entering it manually. I believe if you sign up for a business account you can get a gateway that allows greater adjustment. Not sure if there is an additional cost for that. If you search this community for "business" you might find some additional info regarding that.81Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Losing charge, even while plugged in.
I'm assuming you have a Nokia gateway since I believe it's the only one with a battery. I believe the sole purpose of the battery is for the initial placement - the battery power allows you to walk around your home with the gateway unplugged to determine the best location (via the bars on the gateway screen). Other than that there's no point to the battery. I think there's discussions on this site regarding just removing it. I would think if your power adapter was faulty the gateway would be having other problems as well, so more than likely the battery is just losing its ability to hold a charge. I assume when you say you turn it off at night, you're turning it off by shutting off power to it via a power strip perhaps. If that's the case the battery is obviously not charging overnight, so it's going to drain. The extreme drop in charge though does tell you the battery is probably dying. Other possibility would be a short somewhere that's causing the drain. Regardless, the battery doesn't affect the day-to-day operation of the gateway. If it's a concern to you, you can contact T-Mobile and they'll send you a replacement which will likely be a different brand w/o a battery.11Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Firmware version 5G Gateway A
The support pages for the gateways list these as the latest, but there's a possibility that there are newer versions not listed yet. Arcadyan - 1.00.18 Sagemcom - 1.2.74 (might have been pulled -see below - prior version is listed as 1.1.52) Nokia -1.2201.00.0328 Note that I have a Nokia Gateway and still have the 0324 firmware, so not sure if it has been deployed yet. Also note that some users here have reported that the 1.00.18 firmware on the Arcadyan caused 5G connection issues. And, finally, the 1.2.74 update for the Sagemcom bricked over 30,000 devices, so they may no longer be pushing it out.25Visto2likes0ComentariosRe: Internet Connection
This is assuming you have the Sagemcom gateway. Other users have reported an inability to connect to a 5G signal after the 1.00.18 firmware update. Some have had success by relocating the gateway in their home. I'm far from an expert on this, but it's a problem with the websites using your IP address to determine your location. This is standard practice, but I believe far fromidealand one that the industry will eventually have to move away from. T-Mobile's IP addresses have proven to not be very accurate for this purpose. I don't know if it's just that they have a limited number of addresses to utilize or if it's some other issue with their use of dynamic addresses. You can probably search the site for "dynamic IP address" or "static IP address"and get some suggestions. There might be a couple of options both of which have an added cost. First might be using a VPN service. Second would be signing up for a business account with T-Mobile and paying for a static address. You can also try rebooting your gateway to see if it assigns you an IP address that's closer to your location, but I imagine you've already done this plenty of times over the last year.9Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Arc Gateway setup best location screen?
Using theT-Mobile Internet mobile app - from the Home page under "Connection Quality" click on "More about connection quality" and then click on "Launch placement assistant" and follow the directions from there. I think that's what you're referring to.1Ver1like0Comentarios
