Re: How to access from second ethernet port to home network on the first ethernet port
@AngelaKThanks, that works and it's safer than my alternative. Your approach allows for all of my devices to stay behind the router while only the desktop exposing to the internet. My alternative approach that's also working is setting my Asus to be the "Access Point". This way, my Asus and all devices connected to it are on 192.168.12.x subnet. However, this causes Asus to turn off all Firewall protection.6Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: How to access from second ethernet port to home network on the first ethernet port
@copz1998The Arcadyan KVD21 has two ethernet out ports. Let's say that I connect my desktop-pc to port 1 and laptop to port 2, then both devices will see default gateway as 192.168.12.1. However, I connect my Asus Wireless router to one of the port and the desktop-pc to the other. My setup ended up being: T-Mobile gateway -->Asus Router-->Other Devices….These devices will print out 192.168.50.1 as default gateway because that's coming from the Asus Router. T-Mobile gateway -->Desktop….This one will print out 192.168.12.1 as default gateway because it's coming directly from the Arcadyan KVD21.7Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: How to access from second ethernet port to home network on the first ethernet port
@copz1998, I put 192.168.12.1 in the DNS setting properties of the IPV4 of my desktop ethernet network but it doesn't work. Please note that the Default Gateway of the desktop-pc is showing as 192.168.12.1 while the Default Gateway of the Asus Wireless Router is showing as 192.168.50.1.8Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: How to access from second ethernet port to home network on the first ethernet port
@copz1998 , I understand that if I plug my desktop ethernet cable into my wireless router then I would get access to the wireless router's network. However, I don't want to do that. I want to use the second port available from the T-Mobile receiver as this will provide a much faster connection (being direct) rather than going through the wireless router. I figured since my wireless router and my desktop are both connected directly to the receiver that there may be a way for them to see each other.7Visto0likes0ComentariosHow to access from second ethernet port to home network on the first ethernet port
The T-Mobile Arcadyan KVD21 receiver has two ethernet out ports.--This is great. My wireless router, where most of the devices connected, is connected to the First port. My desktop is connected to the second ethernet port on the receiver. This desktop now can't access anything from the wireless router network. Does anyone know how to get them both to be on the same network? Or how I can access the wireless router's network from my desktop while still connecting to the receiver's second port?Solved496Visto0likes9ComentariosRe: Home Internet Lite with weak 2-bar signal.
@Teebucket1313You should checkhttps://www.cellmapper.net/. Click on the "Menu" button to filter for the needed information like T-Mobile 4G or 5G to find the antenna near you. I have two T-Mobile towers with one in the north section and one in the south section of my house. The one in the south is about half a mile away while the north is about ¾mile away. I used the T-Mobile app to tell me where best to place my receiver an it provided me the best location towards the south as expected. I live in an open area and so there's no mountains and nor a lot of trees to block the signal. My friend lives on the mountain side and with lots of trees. Although T-Mobile map coverage saying that he has 5G Ultra, he only has 3 bars and the speed of 20mbps up and 1mbps down.5Visto1like0ComentariosRe: T-Mobile Home Internet Download and Upload speed difference
@mrdrizIn the T-Mobile Internet app of your phone, go to More-->Advanced Cellular Metrics. You should have the LTE and 5G tabs. Each of the tab will list the metrics. Click on each metric and it will give you more information. Looks like you're having bad signal like 3 bars on your receiver. I would use the app to find out the best location in your house to place it. My friend has 20mbps down and 1mbps up with the 3 bars signal.--This is due to him living on the mountain side and there are many trees blocking the signal as well.5Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: T-Mobile Home Internet Download and Upload speed difference
@Darko66and @Rogracer2000I've resolved my issue. After reading about the Bands and Metrics, I did notice that my receiver is showing 4G on the display. I then interrogate the "Advanced Cellular Metrics" section and noticed that my LTE tab is showing I'm on Band 12 (700 MHz) and the5G tab is showing blanks for all the metrics. I called T-Mobile and they sent a connection reset signal to my receiver. I now have LTE Band 2 (1900 MHz) and I see the 5G on the display with 5G tab showing metrics. The speed is drastically different. I went from 230mbps down with constant 5mbps upload to 400mbps down with constant 120mbps upload.41Visto1like0ComentariosRe: T-Mobile Home Internet Download and Upload speed difference
@Darko66All of those "Advanced Cellular Metrics" are showing "Excellent" value for my location. I was testing the speed at three different locations in the home before I followed the T-Mobile app suggestion of the best location. The location it provided was also one of the three that I was testing and saw the best download speed. I wasn't particularly interested in the upload speed at the time of testing. However, I did notice that it went upload speed between 6 - 100mbps. I can't remember which location where the upload speed was the best. It's just now that I've done all the tidying at the final location and don't want to have to take the setup apart to test again. The upload speed has been constant 5mbps though. I would prefer it to be at least 10mbps.8Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: T-Mobile Home Internet Download and Upload speed difference
@copz1998I understand the speed varies. Dependent on time of the day and the location. E.g. I actually have faster speed at the south of my house vs the north side.--Even when both have excellent signal. I'm just curious if there is a correlation of upload vs download speed where upload speed wouldprefer a different location thandownload speed.9Visto0likes0Comentarios
