This is a load of BS from T-Mobile. It's all about making even more money, period. There is no excuse in the world to switch users to paperless billing without their consent, only after the fact allowing users to manually switch back. In fact, it's down right criminal the way they went about it. This should have been an opt-in endeavor, pure and simple. If you are using your Netflix account in other households, then you would need to look at the extra members options through Netflix, but that would not be included in what is covered by the Netflix on Us feature on your T-Mobile account. That's just it, my household as far as T-mobile is concerned is 2 homes, 6 phone accounts and a watch account. There was no mention of "household" when this benefit was touted, only of family allowances. In fact it still says Netflix with family allowances on my t-mobile account. Where is this family allowance if only a single phone user is allowed access to netflix because the other 6 devices live in a different house? Is T-mobile going to be changing it's terms on this benefit (the same as they did by adding the word "household" when it didn't have it before) to remove the "family allowances"? We paid for all these lines with this benefit as part of it and expect all of these lines to be able to use this benefit. This is the way it was pitched to us to get us onto this t-mobile plan from our previous tmobile plan. Now that netflix wants to screw customers, t-mobile is just going to be complicit in screwing us too? I've been with T-mobile since they acquired Suncom in 2007. We have 7 devices on our plan (6 phones and a watch). Our plan was the first to offer free netflix and we're on that same plan to this day (never changed plans such as Magneta, etc., just added devices). One of these phones (main tmobile account holder) lives in GA and the others (My Daughter and her family) live in Maryland. So how does this affect our Netflix? Will we still be able to have netflix at both households because of the t-mobile deal? boca, my router has an extensive wifi network going with many different items connecting and is already setup the way I want things. In addition I can have a guest network and point it to a DNS server of my choosing. I can also set rules. By using it instead of configuring the Gateway to hook up everything, I didn't have to configure or change anything other than unplugging my cable to the cable modem, plug it into the gateway, and switch the mode from router to access point. I'm just starting out on T-Mobile home internet but didn't want to stop using my Asus Router which is set up nicely already to handle everything in this household (both wifi and ethernet). Here's what I did to avoid any problems. I hooked my Router's WAN port (which use to go to my cable modem) to one of the two ethernet ports on the back of the T-Mobile Gateway. To avoid double NAT and other problems, I went to Administration on my Asus RT-AX82U and changed it from Wireless Router to Access Point. I made sure to download the Device Discovery Utility linked under Access Point before saving the change so I could get the Router IP address to log into it after the Router reboots. Then just type the new IP into the browser to continue managing the Router. I hope this helps anyone that simply wants to keep using their Router and it's setup with the T-Mobile Gateway. I can't totally disable the wifi in the T-Mobile Gateway (mine is the Sagemcom), but I switched it to 5Ghz only in the Tmobile app to cut down on any interference (which hasn't been a problem anyway) and still only use the WiFi from my Asus Router.Re: Will connecting everything to my personal router's WiFi resolve the double NAT issue?
On my Asus RT-AX82U I simply went to Administion and changed it from Wireless Router to Access Point. This does away with all the Double Nat hassles, etc. Just remember to get that utility described there under access point before saving the change so that once the router reboots you can find it's IP address.
