5G Home Internet T-Mobile Gateway needs to be fixed. There are too many internet disconnections.
Let me start by saying I do like having wireless internet. The problem is I don't think it is ready for primetime. Speed is great, price is great, but It loses its connection to the internet about once every two days. It's sad. I have spoken with T-Mobile many times. They have updated my firmware and done other things (I have no idea what they change there), and they tell me that these changes will fix all the problems. Sure! I am getting close to asking them to replace my Gateway to see if that helps. Has anyone had a replacement and found that helped?11KViews16likes71ComentariosRe: Home Internet Static IP
It is dynamic. I have to reboot my Gateway at least once a week, sometimes more often. That makes me very sad. The problem for me with dynamic IP is my DirectTV Stream service uses a static IP to determine my home location. Yep, I know that is stupid, but that is what they do. So every time I reboot the Gateway, DirectTV Stream thinks I have moved. At this point they must think I live in a bus. They allow four moves in a year, then they lock you out of the max streams allowed of 20 (again, a ridiculous limit), and then cap you at two streams for another year.24Visto8likes0ComentariosRe: Change Device Names
You would think there was a way to have the app show the device names especially since device names are shown in the T-Mobile Gateway Setup video at minute 1:54. My app shows Mac addresses of the devices. Totally useless.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPIU0HUh6TA Sceen capture from the set up video:4Visto5likes0ComentariosRe: 5G Home Internet Continues to disconnect
It's winter here in MN. I'm going to put my stupid gateway out in the 0 temps. Then it can't be overheating. I have to restart it all the time. 3 times today. 34 times in 60 days. Yep, I'm keeping track of this. Don't waste your time calling T-Mobile. They'll want you to restart the gateway. Duh, I've done that three times today!!! Fix this T-Mobile. Get a gateway that works and send these bad Nokia things to the dump where they belong.16Visto4likes0ComentariosRe: Turn off WiFi on T-Mobile Home Gateway
I connected my Apple AirPort Extreme to the T-Mobile gateway with a long ethernet (in the wall) cable, and that works perfectly. I did NOT turn off the WiFi on the gateway. I connected the AirPort to the gateway with an ethernet cable. Then I reset the AirPort. When it came back upit automatically did the setup to extend. Make sure you name the AirPort network the same name and use the same password as the gateway. No loss of speed, and now I have strong connections throughout my long house. When I'm near the gateway, that is the connection. When I'm near the AirPort, then that is the connection.43Visto3likes0ComentariosRe: Two weeks with our new Sagemcom Fast 5688W Gateway.
Thanks for the info, but that is all above my pay grade!I can see the "metrics" in the app, but the info there is meaningless to me.I'm a consumer. I want to plug it in, and then I want it to work. I don't want to have to troubleshoot it constantly to make it work. And if that is necessary, then T-Mobile will not be successful with the Home Internet service since most users will be consumers like me.12Visto3likes0ComentariosRe: 5G Home Internet T-Mobile Gateway needs to be fixed. It's disconnected again. I'm not spending money to test a third party router. I will start looking for another internet provider. I have no other solution since I'm tired of troubleshooting. I just want my internet to be connected.3Visto3likes0ComentariosRe: Mesh Wi-Fi 6 System
I watched all of Nate's videos. They are very helpful. One thing I would suggest for anyone starting off with a new T-Mobile Gateway is to not change any settings until you understand what the settings do. I made a bunch of changes, but that just caused me more work since I didn't know what I was doing in the beginning!10Visto2likes0Comentarios
