Support claimed it was a glitch in their system. It was disturbing as the msg contained the code I use to access my phone. I changed that out of an abundance of caution.

Got this text - on hold at T Mobile now. I made no such request. Your new Voice Mailbox PIN has been set to XXXX. For new users, access your voicemail with a long-press "1" on your keypad. If you did not request this change, please contact Customer Care immediately by dialing 611
