Re: My download speeds just tanked big time. Going on 2 days with 2mb download speeds
You should take a look at the TM Internet app and see if something is changing when you get good service versus poor service. It may be that 5G is dropping out, or perhaps there is network congestion, and they are switching towers on your service.27Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: 5G home internet or 5G plus?
I don't believe the Plus plan has any faster or "higher capacity" access to the cellular network. It's just that it offers satellite nodes tocreate a mesh network inside your home. If your house is big, that can be helpful as it "may" give you a stronger signal inside your home and avoid "dead zones". It is hard to say if you need that or not. If you had a prior mesh router in your home and felt you needed that, it may be the way to go. Your house is "big enough" that it may benefit. The 2.4 GHz bands will probably reach throughout your house, but it is likely the 5GHz bands will not. I have a 5000 sq ft 2-level house and the 2.4 GHz bands can reach everywhere, including my outside security cameras. The 5 GHz bandis only available in a couple of rooms near the router. Speeds on the 2.4 GHzband can support hi-def video (1080p x 60 fps), so it is still a pretty "fast" band, but if you have 4K TVs located far from your router, you will likely need a mesh network solution.71Visto1like0ComentariosRe: Problems with streaming Hulu Live TV
Not to be dismissive of your request (which, I think, is possible if you upgrade to a business account), but the problem is more on the Hulu side, since some services like YouTubeTV allow users to identify a physical location for their service independent of the IP connection point.52Visto1like0ComentariosRe: Home Internet - Requires Open Window - Unusable for multiple hours each day
I have my gateway by a window also and noticed that the signal levels improve about 6 dB or so when the windows are open. So it sounds like you have marginal signal levels and the open window helps mitigate the problem. The best you can do is move the gateway around (sometimeseven just rotating it a bit can help). There is also the possibility of adding an external antenna...the newest gateway has a port for that, but with the older ones it's still possible.17Visto1like0ComentariosRe: Wrong Location
ibdiver wrote: This is very annoying. I live in western Montana, yet when I'm online, websites show I'm in Seattle, Washington, more than 500 miles away and in a different time zone. Surely someone in T-Mobile's IT department is smart enough to fix this. Welcome to the world of cellular internet. The location reported is for your IP address which is the established at the facility where TM aggregates all cellular signals and ultimately connects to the internet. You can't control that. It may even change from time-to-time. The best you can do is use applications that don't care about it, or allow you to establish a physical location (Like YouTube TV). Some VPNs may also allow you to do that.39Visto1like0ComentariosRe: just upgraded but getting usage notifications
Are you talking about a Hotspot plan or the TM Internet plan? If you're talking about the TM Internet plan, I tooswitched from the data-capped "lite" plan to unlimited the plan about a year ago. The plan didn't switch, however, until the next billing cycle. So it could just be that your plan hasn't converted yet.14Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: data accounting
Did you try calling customer service? When I was on the "Lite" plan, my data-usage matched when the data-cap kicked-in. Side-note: When I had the plan 1.5 yrs ago, there was no such thing as a 150 GB plan….they only had 100, 200, and 300 plans. Makes you wonder if they don't have something messed up at their end and you're getting capped at 100.11Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Why does my TV think I'm in Rhode Island, when I'm actually in Maine?
Lots of streamingservices use the IP address rather than your physical location. For a cellular servicelike TM, the IP location is where TM aggregates all the cellular signals and connects to the internet….in your case Rhode Island. It can even move around a bit without you knowing. There isn't a lot you can do. Some folks have had success by connecting thru a VPN that lets you assign a phyicsal location to an IP address. Otherwise, you need a streaming service that is more flexible. YouTube TV, for example, let'you set a physical location different from your IP location.8Visto1like0Comentarios
