Recycling and composting can definitely help reduce your environmental footprint. By recycling products that are truly recyclable and composting organic waste, you can prevent these materials from ending up in landfills and generating emissions.
However, it's important to note that not all items labeled as "recyclable" can be recycled by your local waste management service, so it's crucial to check with them to ensure proper recycling practices. Additionally, T-Mobile offers device recycling options, providing customers with a convenient way to responsibly dispose of their old devices.

T-Mobile's sustainability commitments have a significant focus on customers and their environmental footprints. Through various device takeback and trade-in programs, T-Mobile helps customers avoid creating electronic waste by providing them with responsible disposal options for their old devices. Additionally, as the only U.S. telecom powered by 100% renewable electricity, T-Mobile ensures that customers' phone calls and texts are transmitted with minimal emissions.
T-Mobile matches its own annual electrical usage with renewable energy from a portfolio of sources including: virtual power purchase agreements, a green direct program, renewable retail agreements, community solar agreements, and unbundled REC purchases. For details see T-Mobile.com.

While carbon neutrality and net-zero emissions share similarities, they have distinct differences. Carbon neutrality typically involves offsetting the same amount of carbon emissions that a company or individual produces. On the other hand, net-zero emissions means going beyond offsetting by minimizing all carbon emissions as much as possible, including indirect emissions associated with the company’s customers and suppliers.
T-Mobile recognizes the importance of striving for net-zero emissions and has set ambitious goals to reduce its carbon emissions. By implementing energy-efficient practices, utilizing renewable energy sources, and optimizing network infrastructure, T-Mobile is actively working towards achieving net-zero emissions by 2040.

While transitioning to renewable electricity is a crucial step toward reducing emissions, it does not eliminate a company’s entire carbon footprint.
There are three types (scopes) of emissions that make up a company's carbon footprint and renewable electricity addresses part of that. However, the largest part of a company's carbon footprint generally comes from Scope 3 emissions - emissions from suppliers, customers, transportation of products, and more. These emissions can be the toughest to reduce. By including them in T-Mobile's net-zero goal, the company is taking a comprehensive approach to reducing its total carbon footprint.
