T-Mobile is providing 70,000 lines of wireless service to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to help make telehealth services more accessible to veterans.

Por qué es importante:

Many veterans drive 25-50 miles for health care visits. Through this deal, VA - the nation's largest integrated health care system - is making health care providers more accessible from virtually anywhere. VA joins a growing roster of businesses and government organizations turning to T-Mobile for Business.

Para quiénes es importante:

This deal is for all the hardworking health care providers and support staff across all VA hospitals, clinics and outpatient facilities and the veterans they serve. T-Mobile for Business is for any business or government organization looking for better value.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is partnering with T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS) to help expand veterans’ access to health care. Because veterans drive an average of 25 to 50 miles for health care visits today, VA, which operates the largest integrated health care system in the country, is working to make health care providers more accessible to patients with telehealth services and the expansion of its network of Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) across the country. As the primary wireless provider for VA, T-Mobile will provide 70,000 lines of wireless service to VA doctors, nurses, social workers, crisis hotline staff and more, across all VA hospitals, clinics and other outpatient facilities.

VA operates 1,243 health care facilities, including 172 VA Medical Centers and 1,062 outpatient clinics across the nation, serving over 9 million enrolled veterans each year. T-Mobile will continue to support and grow its relationship with VA as it works to expand its health care network with more physical locations in rural areas and telehealth services that bring access to care closer to home for hundreds of thousands of veterans.

"Deploying this type of service across all of our locations not only connects VHA staff with the people and data they need, it makes them more accessible to our veterans as well," said Dr. Steven Lieberman, executive in charge, Veterans Health Administration. "Whether it's at a medical center, a community clinic or via the VA Video Connect telemedicine platform, our ongoing goal is to improve patient outcomes by reaching veterans wherever they are."

"Veterans truly represent the heart and soul of this nation," said John Legere, CEO of T-Mobile. "I can't think of a greater honor than to help VA expand access to exceptional health care for the men and women who have served our country. I'm incredibly proud to provide the wireless network, devices and support to help VA employees engage with veterans while expanding telehealth and other innovative services."

T-Mobile’s agreement with VA is part of the U.S. Navy’s Spiral 3 Wireless and Telecommunications Services contract, worth $993.5 million over five years.
