5G hotspot sim in LTE hotspot
Hola all,
Been using my Inseego 5G M2000 with my 100GB 5G plan for about a year now. I am working on a project that requires one of the USB LTE sticks to function. I purchased the ZTE MF833V but cannot get it to connect. I tried having the online chat update the IMEI number in their system and it still doesnt work.
My guess is that the 5G sim/plan does not work with the LTE device. Can anyone confirm what i would need to get this USB modem connected?
Cheers.

Hey there @Thomas moore Issues when you first get your device can be a real pain in the neck. I want to be able to help you get that hotspot up and running. I have a few questions to help understand your situation so we can move forward with the best advice. What hotspot did you get? Are you using the new sim card it came with or are you using a SIM card from a previous device?

Well, USB8 came in today and still cannot get it activated. Was on the phone with tech support for 30 minutes while they scratched around and eventually hung up on me.
I know the devices aren’t locked because they work with both of my ATT and Visible sims.
So frustrating!

Hey there! The variety of hotspot devices is so fantastic because you can always find one to fit each situation. SIM cards are backwards compatible so if it is 5G capable then it will connect to our 4G and LTE bands when available. Even if the SIM card is compatible, it does not always mean that the device is. Where did you purchase your ZTE USB stick?
Hello HeavenM. Good info on the backwards compatibility.
All 3 of the USB sticks I've tried have been purchased from amazon and none of them want to make a connection. They all get stuck in "limited service" mode after entering the APN info in.
The three devices are:
ZTE MF833V https://a.co/d/3RAJOjL
Generic USB LTE https://a.co/d/3IB0LDS
HOSAYA 4G LTE USB https://a.co/d/0tDWDXw
I have an Inseego USB8 on the way. That seems to be the go-to that everyone is using currently.

Its been autodetecting the APN settings (fast.t-mobile.com) but still just says “limited service”.
I had an issue when i first got this line where i think the CSR gave me the wrong type of SIM card or something and it wasnt compatible with the device. Could something similar be happening? The current plan is for 5G, yet this device is only 4G.
