Offer for free Pixel 7a

Spoke to TMobile yesterday about adding a 3rd line to my current plan and was presented with an offer for free Google Pixel 7a when adding a line. So today, after adding the line, I'm told the 7a is out of stock and don't know if/when the offer will return. So when did TM decide to get into the 'bait and switch' business?
