Cell phone classes

My mother is 71 yo. She has never gotten the hang of using her smart phone. Are there free classes for seniors to help them with this?

There are people out there, like myself, that do occasionally teach things like this.  As an Assistive Devices Consultant/Technician/Trainer for people with disabilities.  One on One classes with those with various disabilities is something you can usually find locally on disability focuses websites and forums.  Reach out to your local agencies to see if they can help your mom with some free or low cost ways to become comfortable with using her smartphone.

  • I'm not sure that there are any. But on the other hand, what is it that you or she wants to use the phone for? If it's a smartphone there are many features that may or may not be used. Phone calls, texting, surfing the internet, taking pictures, taking videos, watching YouTube, reading and sending emails etc. are all things possible on a smartphone.

If the only thing she wants the phone for is to make phonecalls I’d suggest looking into getting her a simple phone that doesn’t have all that extra stuff.

If there are smartphone features she wants to use I suggest trying to look up video tutorials on those specific features.
