got a new ipad and have question about plans

okay so i got an ipad from apple and i want to add it to my plan but i was wondering if i got a prepaid plan for like a month, let’s say, would that impact adding it to my already existing plan later? my parents have a plan that i would add the ipad to but that would probably be in the next like month or two so i wanted to know if getting a prepaid one until then would impact the ability to add it to my parents plan.
