Netflix and college student

Our college student (on our family phone plan) just got kicked off of our Netflix account that we pay for through T-Mobile's discount ($16 for premium). Since this program won't let me add them as another paid viewer for $7.99, can they utilize the free version of Netflix on Us with ads while we continue with the discounted premium? Just trying to find a workaround. To use the extra user feature we'd have to go through Netflix and pay almost twice as much.
