Can't get gigabit switch to work

Have you tried just connecting one device directly to the gateway to confirm that the ethernet port is working?
And, if the devices you are connecting have static IP addresses they might not be recognized because they need to be 192.168.12.xxx addresses. It would however seem unlikely that all of your devices would have static addresses. Devices with addresses assigned by the gateway would likely need to be refreshed or power cycled as copz1988 mentions.
