iPhone Text Messages do not send

When my iPhone is connected to the T-Mobile 5G Hotspot, I cannot send text messages from the iPhone to non-iPhone users. There is just a "message unable to send" error.

Are you using iMessages? If so try using a 3rd party sms app to see if it will go through.

Yes, iMessages. I want to be able to use iMessage not a 3rd party app. I can turn wifi off, send, then turn wifi back on. I want to be able to send while on wifi.

IMessages and Android don't play well with each other.

You might want to go to the Apple forum and see if there's a fix there.

I can send text messages when I'm not on the T-Mobile 5G hotspot. There is no issue when I'm on Optimum wifi, just the messaging issue on T-Mobile's wifi hotspot.

you’ll have to fire him the link via DM..still working on the notifications deal in here..

  • Check an see if the WiFi hotspot has a setting for cellular data and make sure it is enabled. I am not sure what specific device you are referring to as the  T-Mobile WiFi hotspot nor am I clear on the type of phone nor carrier the phone is related to.

  • Under messages settings you can enable SMS but check to see if MMS is enabled or not. If it is disabled try enabling MMS first as it is a bit more robust.
I am referring to the messages settings on an iPhone.

  • Was this resolved?  I just got a Gateway 5G and I'm having problems sending texts while on wifi.  Off wifi it's fine and never had problems with my old wifi leading me to believe it's an issue with the T Mobile 5G.

“Don’t use iMessage” is a horrid solution to this problem. iMessage is the messaging app for iPhones.

This is a T-Mobile issue. This is not an issue on other providers.
