Text Messages to Gateway
Is there anyway to block phone numbers from sending text messages to my 5G gateway? I checked my T-Mobile home internet account and saw I had over 50 text messages. So I went to my gateway and reviewed them, they were all scams and it took me 10 minutes to delete them all, no option to block.
I just upgraded to a 5G gateway in March. I previously had the LTE gateway and it was sure a lot easier to review & delete text messages via the web page interface. I didn't even know you can see text messages on the LCD screen on the 5G gateway until I did a search here.

That's right. It cannot be done this way. Is there another way?

It cannot be done this way. The following appears:
“This line does not include these settings.”
It appears only customer support can help. Their only solution was to change numbers.

When I tried what you said it would not let me select my phone # for Gateway. It is the only TM divice I have, maybe that is why. Didn't work for me.

Hey there @WickedNobody. There are a few situations where the text messages to the gateways are useful. They are few and far between, but the messaging feature is enabled because it is better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it. I am sorry that the store and customer support people that you talked to so far were not extremely helpful. I would be happy to take a shot at it so you can have a solution that works better for you. There are two ways that messages can be blocked on the gateways (or any line on your account). You can log in to My.T-Mobile.com or a customer support representative can add the free blocking feature.
Here are the steps for adding the block yourself online.
- Visita Mi T-Mobile e ingresa a tu cuenta como titular principal de la cuenta.
- Selecciona tu nombre en la parte superior derecha.
- Luego, ve a Perfil.
- Elige Block calls and messages.
- Selecciona la línea deseada.
- Toggle the slider for Bloquear mensajes y Bloqueo de email TMOmail.net to enabled the block. Slider turns magenta when on and gray when off to turn off the block.
I love that you have the option to change this online, so you don't have to talk to another person if you don't want to. If you would like a rep to add the block to the account, you can try reaching out via Facebook or Twitter. They have secure ways to verify your account and get the block added to the Home Internet line.
I hope this helps.

Ah - got it - thanks. I see what you mean by the work required to delete all those messages. The newer KVD21 does have a web gui at 192.168.12.1 but is pretty limited. Thanks again.
It's more like a screenshot, dude. I would be ashamed to say such a thing.

When I went to the T-mobile store near me, they asked me why I was receiving text messages on my router like I should know. They told me there was literally nothing they could do in the store and I would have to contact support online.
Online Support also asked me why I was getting text messages on my router and directed me to change settings that literally do not exist.
The phone number was attached to a woman that owned a business and received a lot of text messages which would occasionally disrupt my service.
I have no faith in their ability to fix this or prevent it from happening in the future. I can't wait to get out of this absolute trap of a contract.Edit: “They” changed to “Online Support”

I have the round type of 5G router/modem and I am getting texts from outside people. How to permanently stop those from coming in AND how can I send some of my own to my router?

It was my previous LTE gateway that had the web gui. The newer 5G gateway, the round one with LCD panel in the front, does not have a web gui. You have to cycle thru the 3 buttons to see text messages, the middle button brings up text messages, the right button cycles thru them.

Where do you see text messages at in the web gui? I have the newer gateway that I received in May with the front control panel and all I see in the http://192.168.12.1/home is network management stuff. I am trying to take advantage of the Tuesday special and it sent a 4 digit code to my gateway and I can't find it anywhere.
