15 TopicsGreat Download Speeds, Horrible Upload speeds
A couple weeks ago our upload speeds dropped to below one, while our download speeds seem pretty consistent. 30-140. I reached out to customer service, did all the steps, and they sent a new gateway out. The New Gateway is having the same issues. Download 30-140, Upload .87. So now I'm back on with customer service, and they asked me to turn it off and on again. Then to move the unit because I should be getting 36 up. The best up we've ever had is 13. We moved the router all around the house before picking the current location with the best connection. This all started 2-3 weeks ago. No new devices on the network. Apparently no maintenance in the area. Any ideas.175Visto0likes3ComentariosAnyConnect VPN has become too slow as of Sep 2024
I use Tmobile 5G internet and my AnyConnect VPN speeds were adequate until Sep 2024! The VPN speeds are now at best about 4 mbits/sec for download and about 6 mbit/sec upload, which is way too slow. The nominal speed, without VPN, for myTmobile 5G internet, is more than 300 mbits/sec download speeds. What has changed and how do I resolve this?78Visto0likes0ComentariosAnyone else having untenable tower issues?
I've been having issues with my TMHI since the middleof November, roughly. They've done tower maintenance twice since then and I honestly feel like that's done more harm than good. I routinely get extremely low speeds and even worse, 400-500ms latency. The jitter is also really bad. I've tried moving my tower around my apartment and that didn't help. Its near a window on my desk currently. There's a tower just over a quarter of a mile from my location. I understand that certain types of traffic are prioritized during peak and high load, but this happens all the time to me, I've had it happen in the morning, in the midday, the evening and night, and even at 3 in the morning.I've swapped out my box (FAST 5688W) for an identical unit from the T Mobile store, and that has not helped. Hell, I'd love to argue for some credits back to my account for how often I find myself on my Verizon phone hotspot or the Cox hotspot. Can any support agent help me get one of the G4AR/G4SE units? I'd like to see if an external antenna would help. If not, then I'll probably be cancelling my service and going to Cox. What's the point of paying for a service if you can't use it ¾of the time? 🤷🏽 EDIT: I forgot to mention that right now the download speed is really good for some reason. Also, the packet loss test didn't even run which is new. Send that to your tower engineers, maybe..72Visto0likes0ComentariosSignificant Drop off in home internet speed
I signed up with T Mobile Home Internet in February 2021. At the time, they told me that I was in an excellent coverage area and would get at a minimum 50 mbps. I had no issues and did receive 50+ mbps until last week. Now i receive 6-7 mdps, occasionally reaching 10-12. I have spent 3+ hours on the phone with service reps and tech reps only for them to tell me that I am in a poor coverage area and cannot get anymore than what I am currently getting. How can i go from a excellent coverage area to a poor coverage area in 1 day? This is deceptive practices by T Mobile, selling you on 50 and charging you for 50 only to throttle you later on because of "upgrades to the tower" with no ETA on when or if you will be put in a better coverage area. Buyer beware. this is a shady compay with shady business practices2KViews0likes10Comentariosslow speed tests
Got a new gateway and a new sim card, then had sim card replaced. Speedtest at the TMobile store less than a mile away was over 170. My first speed test at home was over 100 but then every subsequent speed test ranged from 3 to 24. I've restarted the gateway and devices and still get slow speed tests. Without wifi speed test is almost 200, so service in the area is good. Did I get another bad gateway?107Visto0likes2ComentariosWhat I did to get better connection without antenna, Bucket idea
I've had my T-Mobile Trash can for over a year already and did a lot of experimenting with it as far as location and how to get he best reception for the least money. I noticed while I'm 3-4 miles from any tower , I would get very little reception at least anything good while in the house. And I was correct while in the house it was terrible slower than slow lucky to get 1.5 down with 2 bars showing for my primary signal and nothing for my secondary. So, before I jump out and spend a small fortune on an antenna and cables , I took the cheap approach to see if it would even work in my area . I placed the trashcan inside a 5-gallon bucket with a lid on it upside down with one smaller entry hole cut into the bottom for electric and any drainage from dew buildup. While in the bucket I rotated the trashcan to get the best reception and marked it there, I also set the trashcan in the bucket but not on the lid but instead raised it on top a small empty coffee can so if any water or condensation were inside it would quickly drain out before ever coming near the height of the unit. Strapped it down from the winds and snow and now I get a primary signal of -104 dbm which is not that great and secondary signal of -92 dbm whereas now I get a constant download speed of 80-150 Mbps and uploads of 12-19 Mbps.. Been out there for almost a year and doing its job without dumping 4-5 hundred on an antenna that who knows if it will work on the next model that comes out.662Visto4likes4ComentariosSpeed Drops the regains and restart ?
I have had the T-Mobile trash can for about a year and my speeds have always been kind of slow like 30 -60 down and 7-9 up, now that's fine for me but noticed this past week the speeds have changed . they are fine for about 1-2 hours into using the internet during OFF PEAK or ON PEAK times. Then the speeds would drop to 3-8 down and 7-8 up. thanks right the up speed stays the same and this will continue BUT the minute I RESTART the trash can and wait the 2 minutes for it to come up the speed returns to normal for another 1-2 hours then it all begins again. Now like I said this just started this week and never did this in the past year. Any ideas ?394Visto0likes10ComentariosSignal strength VAPORIZED. More downtime with T-Mobile Home Internet than I've ever had with any other ISP.
I got sick of the constant downtime that I experienced with Cox every time a tropical storm came through Louisiana, so I decided to give T-Mobile a try. There's no phone lines to fall down so the internet is always up, right? And since I already have 4 phone lines and 3 cellular devices with T-Mobile, it seemed like the right course of action and the price was attractive, although I would GLADLY PAY MORE for faster data (I can keep dreaming, right?) WRONG. T-Mobile home internet goes down like 5 times a day. I used to call it in but it happens now so frequently that it's a waste of time. They would tell me they're doing upgrades and to wait it out, toggle the power switch on/off and it usually came back on in 3-4 minutes. I stuck with T-Mobile thinking those "upgrades" would pay off, but they haven't and it's actually taken a turn for the worse. The outages are now lasting between 5-10 minutes and on top of that, I have an entirely new problem that didn't exist before: LOW SIGNAL STRENGTH. For 7 months, my gateway has been sitting in the same exact place. It's positioned right in front of the window, on top of 4 milk crates because it's the only place in the house where I can get 4 bars, but that's all come to an end because all of the sudden, out of nowhere, I only gets 2 bars now. This happened about 4 days ago and I haven't moved any furniture or anything, it just dropped from 4 bars to 2 and there's no other place in the house where I can get a decent signal. The only way I can get 3 bars, is IF I TAKE IT OUTSIDE. What's strange is that the symptoms are not consistent. Sometimes the cellular will go out on all my devices (which makes sense if T-Mobile is working on the tower) but other times, it's just the home internet that goes down. It's about 50/50. Do gateways just go bad? Is there any kind of extender?469Visto2likes4ComentariosWant Low Band But It Won’t Stay There
I'm close to the edge of one tower's coverage and myconnection constantly bounces from mostly very slow speed to sometimes very fast speed. I have tried positioning and moving the gateway toall sorts of places throughout the house to keep it on the very good signal of the N71 low band, but the gateway insists on frequently choosing the N41 mid band that has a barely to no usable signal. It seems to me that the gateway is not at all programmed correctly when it prefers a very unreliable band over a very solid reliable signal on another band. Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe some way to shield the mid band signal?92Visto0likes1Comentario
