Re: The wifi box does not give the correct location on the Ethernet cable which also mean mesh wont work

So I think we have proven that the TMobile internet service is not compatible with the Google Mesh. I hate that. I have a lot of smart devices that work off of the mesh. I really want my alarm clock, weather and other functions to be local. I guess I will return it Friday. Take a breath. g Interesting: This was what Tmobile said about this issue: Hello Joe, I get where you're coming from, family is certainly important. We've conferred with our tech team about this issue, it's been something they've seen before and unfortunately not something that can be corrected through our gateway support. I do want to be transparent about this so our time together is spent wisely. If there were a resolution we'd be all over that for you in a heartbeat. Our development team is aware of the issue so feedback has been passed along. Tmobile wanted me to set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.252. Google tech support said no. They wanted it left at 255.255.255.0. I don't even have to have the mesh plugged in. I have a computer plugged straight into the box and it says I am in Miami Florida. Where did you set the address? T Mobile doesn't seem to know where to do this. The wifi works fine. The Google Home knows where it is. I also have no problems with people from India. I just didn't really know if they were tech support or exactly what they were called. What exactly is a TMHI gateway? I had Google and Tmobile help lines on chat both at the same time. I was copying back and forth between them. TMobile finally admitted they knew it was a problem.8Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Turn off WiFi on T-Mobile Home Gateway
I am having trouble with the wired connection not knowing my real location. That means without going through the wifi I get incorrect time, weather and any localized information. I think Tmobile knows this is the case. Be careful making a wired commitment to this box. If some body knows how to fix this please post it. My wired mesh has no idea where it is and changes location every time the T Mobile dice is powered off and back on.17Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: The wifi box does not give the correct location on the Ethernet cable which also mean mesh wont work
For some reason I am having trouble with the grand finale. Tmobile says that they can't help me. So I returned the box and the second box has the same problem. I have been to the store. I have been to the help line in India. Nobody seems to know they have a problem. I have my computer Ethernet cable plugged directly into the T mobile wifi hub and when I look at my location it changes every time I power the box off and back on. Since my mesh plugs straight into the WIFI I can't use my mesh for any sort of alarm clock, weather ,or location. The guy at the store said these are so new that it may take a while to get the bugs out. This sucks. My mesh is worthless. TMobile doesn't even seem to know they have a problem. I wish I could get somebody to plug an Ethernet cable into their T Mobile modem and run any one of many web site that will tell you your location. It is definitely nothing on my end. The Ethernet cable is a completely different hardware connection to the internet than the Tmobile signal coming in and being broadcast on WIFI. I ma going to try this for a little while and then take it back for the huge fight in the store.Solved798Visto0likes6ComentariosRe: T-Mobile Home Internet + Google Nest WiFi
So I looked farther after I made this post. I got it to where I could plug my computer directly into the T Mobile device and the location was incorrect. I would type "wheremai" and check the computer vs the mesh. They were in agreement. The help people said everything looked good that hey could see so they though I had a bad device. Every time I powered it on it came up in different major cities. The people at the store are always great. The only problem was that their system would not let them exchange it for a working device. They had to order one to replace the broken one. I hate that. I was getting about 350mbps with the hub. Sadly to say I had to come home and hook my cable modem back up. The really interesting data point was I could power the Tmobile device and ask what time it was to the mesh. It had the correct but as soon as I asked for something regional like the weather or location the time would change to the zone it was reporting from. I would love to have been able to reload the software and firmware. I suspect that would have corrected the issue. I was a little surprised they couldn't even do that in the store. Lesson 1: No matter how great the box works: Keep the receipt and the original box. That seemed to tilt them a little at the store. They had boxes in the back. I wish I could have walked out with a new box as opposed to waiting now on shipping leading me to lesson 2: Don't turn off your current provider until you have run with the new box for a while. Had I turned off my COX cable I would have to live with weather from other places and alarms going off for the wrong time zones. For the people asking about the mesh my observations from the mesh correlated directly with what I had without the mesh. I am certain that the mesh had nothing to do with this and was working fine other than this bug. I have no doubt that the mesh will work great as always. I have thee hubs on my mesh and a Google Home. They all worked great. I don't think I had any compatibility issues. I just plugged everything in and it worked.26Visto0likes0Comentarios
