Ok, so the external UPS is the way to keep it alive when the power goes out. Re: Battery backup KDV21 It does havea small battery which is very useful for hunting for the best place and position to locate the device. I doubt that it will operate the device for an extended period of time. You can always plug in the AC adapter into an UPS.
