Phone plans not created equal for 55+

You remember the old saying, "Two can live as cheaply as one?" Well, my bet is that T-Mobile found that two can be served as cheaply as one and that they would pass that savings on to over-55 couples. They are, after all, a private company and are free to charge pretty much as they see fit, as long as it doesn't violate the law.

It costs more for 1 line.  What about those people who are  Living off a social security. I live in a studio apartment that's what I can afford. I certainly would not need 2 lines?? I don't understand where T-Mobile thinks that the 55 plus minimum of 2 lines is an advantage for anybody 55 years an older? Seems a little discriminatory?

Have you tried contacting Tmobile to see if you can get 1 line?

they can get a single line but the price per month jumps compared to the 2 line. well kind of..2 lines comes out to $27.50 per line so $55 where a single line is $40 (going off the Essentials 55+ plan). the OP might be seeing the $27.50 part but not noticing the $27.50/Line.

it doesnt say minimum of 2 lines though. go just below what youre looking at and click on “see price breakdown” it’ll take you to a breakdown for 1 line, 2 lines and so on under the Unlimited 55+ discounts.

under the Essentials 55+ it shows as

1 line=$40 per month.

2 lines-$27.50 per line which = $55 per month for those two lines.

so $15 more for two lines compared to one line.

Magenta 55+

1 line=$50 per month

2 lines=$35 per line=$70 per month for those two lines.

Magenta Max 55+

1 line=$65 per month

2 lines=$45 per line=$90 per month for those two lines.
