Android Phone Not Receiving Text Messages After Switching to T-Mobile Network
Hi T-Mobile Community,
I recently switched to T-Mobile with my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S21), and since then, I haven't been receiving text messages consistently. I can send texts without any issues, but incoming messages are either delayed or don't arrive at all.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
- Restarted the phone and reset network settings.
- Checked the APN settings to ensure they match T-Mobile’s recommendations.
- Verified that my SIM card is properly activated and seated correctly.
- Tried using both Wi-Fi calling and regular mobile network modes to see if there’s any difference.
Is there something specific to T-Mobile's network or Android settings that could be causing this? Has anyone else experienced this issue after switching networks?
Thanks for any advice or solutions!

What SMS/MMS messaging app are you using? Google Messages is what Samsung supports as Samsung Messages has been discontinued for the North American market. Make sure RCS is enabled in Google Messages.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I'm currently using the default Google Messages app, and I just checked to confirm that RCS is enabled. I also went through the chat features setup, and it shows as "Connected." However, the issue with delayed or missing messages persists.
Do you think it could be related to the SIM activation or any specific T-Mobile network settings? Or should I try reinstalling Google Messages or switching RCS off and on again?
Appreciate any other suggestions you might have!

Please assist me, I don't know what to do as I am not a technical person.

If you ported in your number. Verizon doesn't like to fully release the number er in hopes that the issues caused will bring you back to them. In terms of SMS/MMS services, like 2FA with your bank and other things. If they ask for the provider when you sign up for their 2FA service. That means they are only sending those texts over that network and you will need to have them update their system. Have you tried asking those sending the texts to delete the message thread and create a new one to see if that fixes it?
