Hotspot connection to Kindle

My Samsung J7 hotspot function will not connect to my new paperwhite kindle. I can connect to all my other devices, and the kindle can connect to other public wifi. The problem is with my phone's connectivity to the kindle. Any ideas or help out there?

  • There should be a way to configure it in your WiFi options. For me and my OnePlus 7 Pro, it's under Settings, WiFi & Internet, Hotspot & Tethering, WiFi Hotspot. In there, you can set the security type, password, Hotspot name, access point band, and so on.  You want to set the AP Band or Access Point Band to 2.4GHz, if it isn't already.

Most Amazon devices do not connect to 5GHz WiFi or AC.  Try N 2.4GHz and see if that works.

  • I found on my iPhone the setting "Maximize Compatibility" under my HotSpot in Settings. That did the trick.
