wifi calling and text on NCL cruise ships
I was always able to use wifi calling and texting on Norwegian Cruise ships until recently. They changed providers to Starlink and now I fully have internet aboard but wifi calling and text wil not function. I have checked settings and have my phone set correctly. I have talked to other T-Mobile customers who have the same issue. I have been on 3 ships and wifi calling and text does not work on any. NCL claims they are not blocking wifi calling and text and this is a T-Mobile problem. Does anyone have a solution or know what is going on so I can assist NCL on a correction? I have a Samsung Android phone but i do not believe this is exclusively an android issue. Gracias.
If your WiFi Calling and texting over WiFi works on other non-cruise ship and Starlink WiFi. It is them blocking the ports WiFi Calling needs to function. That is actually a common practice to get you tonuse their micro-cell on the ship, which they make a lot of money off of.
Thank you. That was my first reaction but have been in contact with upper management at NCL who claims it is not intentional.
