Upgraded from Android to IPhone - Unable to receive text messages from Android Users...

I just upgraded from a Android to an iPhone 14 Plus. I poder send text messages to Android users, but their response no come back to my iPhone. It comes into my old Android Device. I tried all the trouble shooting I could find online, as well as spent an hour with a T-Mobile Tech person over the phone. There is no resolve at this point. I will now have to return this phone that I've fallen in love with because I am not going to have a phone that excludes people from communicating with me. I have 7 days to make a decision. I am furious about this.

I did find this on the Apple Forums, but it seems it didn’t help the T-Mobile Tech get to the bottom of this issue:

Apple: not getting texts from androids

  • I have an android, and I am getting 1 out of 50 or so texts do no go through to iphone users on other networks.  Never had this problem with ATT, Sprint, Verizon. Started when I joined Tmobile two years ago.

  • Apple uses iMessage to send to other iPhones. Similarly Android has its own messaging system. So those Android users probably still have your number saved as an Android device and since you've previously messaged them on the Android system, their phones are still sending messages to your old Android. Is your old Android phone on when testing?

I would maybe have them edit your number in their phone. And also turn off your Android when doing tests.  On an iPhone, you can long-press a message that is attempting to send as an iMessage and choose to send it as an SMS.

Basically, the Android phones need to now be sending you SMS messages instead of Android system messages.
