HP 6500 OfficeJet 710n Printer won't connect to TM Wifi/Gateway

I have an HP6500 Office Jet / 710n printer that's won't connect to TM Gateway.  Have worked with TM tech guy...set up 2.4 connection but still get a message of FAIL at mac filtering.  What is the sol...

    In my case, I created a separate 2.4Ghz SSID and called it “Printers” with WPA/WPA2 security settings, then restarted both my printer and the gateway, and it worked for me.

Okay...I just went back and it was the WPA/WPA2 setting that worked (not the WPA2).
