Router on the Tmobile 5G gateway
Is there anyway to turn off the router broadcasting on the T-Mobile 5G Gateway device? I'd like to add my own router to it.
@Chocol8ChipTrip you can delete the SSIDs you setup using the T-Mobile Internet app - Home. > tap the Network link at the bottom, highlight the network and delete it. Then on your router list your SSIDs there. This is my process and it works fine. I have the Netgear MR60 mesh system. Make sure your router is connected to the TM gateway via ethernet cable.
Let us know if this works for you.

If I end up not liking the router could I just go back and add a network through the gateway? The gateway signal strength is excellent throughout my house. My whole reason for using a router is that the gateway won't run so hot. Does this make sense?

Depending on the router, you should be able to add a separate network. To your concern about the gateway running hot, the device will be fine in standard temperatures (60-80 degrees). To address that concern I purchased a USB powered fan and plugged it into the gateway so it turns on when it starts. It's quiet and keeps the gateway cool. Make sure you have a USB-C connector for the gateway. You can place it under the gateway and blower upwards or place it on top and suck the air out.
I hope this helps.
