Unable to connect Chamberlain garage door opener via 5g internet
Working through multi vendor solution to enable MyQ app to successfully connect to Tmobile home internet. After long trouble shooting with Tmobile and Chamberlain, determined port 8883 is closed and the myq server connection requires an open 8883 port. Neither vendor is being responsive with a solution.

Called Chamberlin’s tech support and after walking me through the steps they said it’s the routers fault.
There may be some truth to that, due to default settings. Not sure if the Chamberlain device requires UPnP enabled, but newer (read: more secure) systems may have that disabled by default.
Mine worked with cablemodem + separate Asus routers.
Did not work with new AT&T fiberoptic modem with integrated router.
Works with T-Mobile 5G Arcadyan modem/router.
I use the very old (2014) Chamberlain Internet Gateway device.

Tried talking to Chamberlain support but it was pretty useless (“T-Mobile is 5G, we require 2.4GHz”).
The 5G in "5G Cellular" has nothing to do with the 5GHz in WiFi. Many people think they are the same thing. 🤷♂️

Yeah, I curse the geniuses that named these things. And eventually we'll have 6G (sixth generation cellular) and 6 GHz Wi-Fi. Curses. Foiled again.

This 5G internet was perfect for my very rural situation and in most cases, it's been great… However, this garage door situation has been a nightmare. I've contacted both companies on several occasions and so far as I can tell, it will never be addressed. I tried again today (even with a repeater) and this absolutely does not work. Oddly, any P2P online games are also blocked, (like Switch Sports and Mario Kart 8) which is another frustration for my family. All of these, even the MyQ will work on my cell's hotspot, so this is even more frustrating. I'm going to test ATT home 5g and/or Verizon (when available) and make the switch if this isn't going to be fixed.

I really need the speed of the home 5g as it's the only option in my area, but this problem with the MyQ/Chamberlain garage issue has been an issue for me the past year…. Well I saw someone on Amazon say that an EERO device connected to their router fixed this issue for them and I can now confirm that my garage doors have connected and are working as intended.
