Home Internet - Open ports for external access

Hola,

I’m using FAST 5688W 5G Gateway and it seems that there is no advanced network settings on the admin page(192.168.12.1).

I need to open some ports for RDP and setup port forwarding. Aguardo respuesta.

    @jin735 you will need to use a router like a Netgear MR60 that you can use for Wi-Fi and Ethernet and have the ability to configure port forwarding and alike. the T-Mobile gateway is just a gateway/access to their cellular network for internet access.

    From what I was told, T-Mobile uses a single ip for multiple devices/accounts. so if they opened up a port for one user it would be opening it up for several making it less secure for others.

    I have no idea if this is true but I was them told if I got a business' account and a different router i might be able to. so far no luck. I need ports open so bad. 

     

    Edit: it might be called CGNAT (Carrier-Grade NAT)

    Just chiming in here for those in the future. 
    I was about to just drop TMHI but I got in.

    I was able to get this working in like 2 seconds. All I did was enable Meshnet in my Nordvpn app on my main host pc and whatever other device I wanted to connect to it. I already had nord so it was a no brainer.
     

    Granted yes you need nord vpn to make it work but it literally takes a few minutes tops and youre in hassle free. Didnt even need to do port forwarding.

     

    For me specifically it was a pc hosting sunshine streaming service so I could use moonlight from my nvidia shield for gaming. Worked like a charm. Even using my shield from states and thousands of miles away, all good

     

    Id imagine more issues hosting actual game servers on this, like rust palworld ark etc though. Cant say yet.

    I spoke with so many representatives trying to fix this issue. Finally, I just asked a rep if they could open my ports on their end and explained I needed an Open NAT type….. after 10 minutes or so, they asked me to reset my gateway and check my NAT type and wouldn't ya know, OPEN!!

     

    I had to come back here and hopefully help someone else out! Don't let anyone tell you it can't be done because they did it for me lol. 

    Called them up, said you need a business account to do it, tried with 2 different representatives.

    I know this is a few months old but I just sent this info to a rep who had to research this and told me it was not possible with the publicly provided gateway. Instead we are told the specific one that is needed for this functionality is the model # FTX3100
