New customers treated better than existing customers

I brought my friend into T-Mobile this weekend to change over her internet from Spectrum to T-Mobile. I have been raving about the service and she finally agreed to  make the change. They signed her up for $30 a month (price will never go up). I am paying $50. I asked how I can get on that and they told me I'm out of luck. I have had T-Mobile for over 18 years. It's extremely frustrating they treat new customers better than old customers. ESPECIALLY when we are recommending new customers.

  • This is nothing new. Although some times there are referral bonuses, usually being a long term committed customer means absolutely bupkis.

    Agree, move on.  My cable internet has price matched TMHI @ $50 with faster speeds of 250mbps vs what I get this week of 11mbps due to my closest tower being down.  When it is up, I get 50-100mbps.

     

    This is what Cox shows on their page, for obvious reasons… :)

    I have Cox and the last time my contract was up I was able to renew for $64 a month including router. I'd rather pay that than the hit and miss of TMHI.

  • I'd cancel your existing service with T-Mobile, then reestablish it at the lower rate. If they question why you're doing it, tell them that's the only way you qualify for the lower rate. My bet is a supervisor will lower your monthly bill to $30 rather than go through the bother of returning the old modem and then sending out a new one to reestablish service.
