Why do I have a phone number

I have a phone number assoc with the T-Mobile 5G Home Internet.

If it is a viable phone for use with the account, how then is a persona supposed to use it?

I have never been a T-Mobile cellular customer, so I’ve no T-Mobile cell numbers in the past.

How do I utilize the number? E.g. is there a portal like Google Voice, or some sort of VOIP interface?

Or is the number to be used solely for identification purposes?

Is for billing purposes, plus you can use that number to sign into your T-Life app.

  • What is T-Life?

Is T-Life an app that lets me make phone calls, or somehow utilize that number beyond the purpose of a unique identifier?

To rephrase, “How is the phone number meant to be utilized?”

If T-Mobile require a unique identifier “for billing purposes” as you suggest, why then wouldn’t T-Mobile create a new unique ID specifically for billing purposes-- having no relationship to the arbitrary notion of a phone number (e.g. 10 digits; however one may perceive a “phone number”)?

My service is not a phone service.
I see no purpose of having an account with a phone number, which this product is not a phone as to suggest a phone-number would be required for the operational use of a mobile cellular hotspot.

if I have no means of using the designated phone number to place phone calls or send SMS data, it seems more as a means of advertising and strategic product placement.
