13 TopicsHome internet speeds are unacceptable during the day.
It's been 10 days since I started using T-Mobile Home Internet. I'm located right in downtown Seattle - My connection is considered "Excellent" and I have a direct view of the cell towers from my windows. The towers are less than 1 mile away. And that's why Ireally need to rant about the speeds I'm getting during the day - Just now, I'm slowed to a crawl at 3 mbps for an hour. Then just now, I tested again and it's at 1~ mbps. This seems to happen every other day with varying degrees of severity. I don't have any issues during non-peak hours, but even then I'm only getting 30 mbps MAX. What more can you expect your customers to do here? These speeds are unacceptable during the daytime, which is basically at 3G speeds and it occurs way too often for comfort. Please do something about these speeds or no one is going to stick around, at least I won't be.1.7KViews0likes10Comentarios5G Internet recently became unstable, any thoughts?
This is my 6th month on t-mobile5G Internet. It used to be good for the first 4 or 5 months, but recently the service became unstable, connection on and off, download/upload speed sometimes are very slow, upload speed is sometimes < 1mpbs. Restart the modem sometimes helps. The modem stays where it was when service is good. When I encountered the issue, the signal on the model is "good" . Any thoughts?1.2KViews0likes5ComentariosInternet Speeds Cut by Half
For the first couple days when i got the 5g home wifi i was getting around 470-500 mbps down and around 45-60mbps up but the next morning it dropped to around 180-210 mbps down and 25-35 mbps up. Has this happened to anyone else? Does it depend on how cloudy it is? Im just confused why it was cut in half in less than a day. Been thinking about getting the MIMO antennas to see if i can get my old speed back.373Visto0likes5ComentariosHigh-Speed Internet Gateway does not work with some apps on T-mobile Home Wifi Internet
I don't know if anybody can help. Encountered a few deal breaking moments with T-mobile Home Wifi internet. I get a whopping 100-235mbps with my High-Speed Internet Gateway but it prevents full access to apps causing extreme lag spikes, pages not loading and video not playing with Amazon Prime Video (on PS4 and on Amazon Fire Stick 4k), TD Ameritrade trading platform for Windows 10, and to a lesser extent apps like Epic Games on PC I also have T-vision TV package, that works fine. So does Netflix. Epic games was able to be fixed once telling PC to use Google DNS 8.8.8.8. and 8.8.4.4. respectively. I had to use Nord VPN to get TD Ameritrade to function correctly without freezing at times, DNS change did not work here. Amazon prime video is still a no go, constantly stops and takes a long time to load again only to stop again. DNS change also did not resolve the issue. It should still work with Nord VPN because it bypasses all T-Mobile filters, but I did not buy T-mobile Home WiFi internet to need the VPN all the time, so I did not bother trying VPN with Prime Video. Is that something we can possibly fix in firmware? And soon please? Speaking of firmware. There is no place to get a new Firmware update which the High-Speed Internet Gateway critically needs. It lacks too many features. One the most needed features is to allow the High-Speed Internet Gateway to turn in just a modem and turn off all routing features so that users can bring their own independent routers to handle DHCP and other advanced functions. High-Speed Internet Gateway also has a bug where I can not fully disable all of the WiFi Signals. You can stop broadcast and SSID from being announced and reduce the radio power for 2.4ghz and 5ghz from 100% down to 12% but it is still not entirely off. I can still see a 5ghz band displaying a signal and allows me to connect when WiFi is supposed to be disabled. Apparently there is a 5Ghz low and 5Ghz high antenna mode. And the 5ghz high is the one that remains visible and usable. Can not be turned off. I don't want to use the hub for wifi, just want to use hard wired internet. I hope to see these issues addressed in the next firmware update with a resources on where we can obtain the new firmware update file as right now there is no information on that anywhere for the new High-Speed Internet Gateway. At the very least I want to see the simple feature of turning the gateway into a modem all by itself and I can handle all the routing on my end instead and if it comes to it I can do a whole house VPN that way and bypass all the problems. Older gateways had the expert mode from what I could see, please bring that back too if you can. Thank you for reading! And for the help! Mike P.S. I have already tried turning it off and back on again, obviously does not work. VPN seems to be the only way to bypass all the problems, but since the unit can not disable routing to act solely as a modem, I can not use a separate router for DHCP and to run VPN for the whole house.9.1KViews7likes21ComentariosUpload speed slow
I use a VPN for work, when I am connected to the VPN my upload speed is terrible (0.01 Mbps). However, when I'm using my WiFi without being connected to the VPNfor work the upload speed is fine. I have spoken extensively with the IT department at work and they have advised me to reach out to my ISP for assistance. So far we have attempted the following: - Attempted to reseat Ethernet cable at both ends - Attempted connecting using wireless instead of Ethernet - Attempted Reconnecting to the VPN - Attempted restarting my laptop - Pinged the loopback address to rule out any NIC issues - Attempted resetting the router - Still getting about a hundred down and .05 up Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.371Visto1like2ComentariosWhy T-Mobile??!
Signed up for T-Mobile Home Internet 3 months ago. First couple of weeks, fantastic. After that, began experiencing dropped connections every few hours. Figured it was the heat. Put the gateway on top of a 3" high egg rack with a 9" fan blowing on high at the gateway, and things stabilized so that we only had to reboot the gateway every couple of days in order to re-establish a connection. For the past month, however, things have been going sharply downhill. Over the past 2 weeks, internet has been completely unusable for streaming during 'peak" times (evenings /weekends). Today, internet has been totally unusable: download speed in teens and low 20's when it's "good", upload speed maxes out at 0.3 to 0.5. Speed test shows 96% loss. That's not a typo. Data consumption currently shows 118GB total combined usage for 2 phones and the gateway. Speed became unusable around the time we hit 100GB. However, we have regular "Home Internet" - NOT "Home Internet Lite". We were promised unlimited 5G Home Internet data with our 2-line Magenta Max plan. But T-mobile has fallen far short and is not delivering on its promises. It's so bad, T-Mobile is making even Spectrum look good. Tried to chat with support, and "Khasmirjoy" literally never even once responded to any question or comment in the chat, even though checkmarks appeared showing they'd been read. I have finally had enough and today signed up for AT&T 1Gig Fiber but that won't be installed until a week from today. We work from home and simply cannot go a full week with T-mobile's useless "internet". What I'd like to know is what is going on? Why does it seem that most people with T-Mobile Home Internet get the promised speeds for a month or two before T-Mo apparently begins throttling down so bad it becomes unusable? Why is support SOOOOO bad (nonexistent)? And 96% loss, seriously??!275Visto2likes1ComentarioWant Low Band But It Won’t Stay There
I'm close to the edge of one tower's coverage and myconnection constantly bounces from mostly very slow speed to sometimes very fast speed. I have tried positioning and moving the gateway toall sorts of places throughout the house to keep it on the very good signal of the N71 low band, but the gateway insists on frequently choosing the N41 mid band that has a barely to no usable signal. It seems to me that the gateway is not at all programmed correctly when it prefers a very unreliable band over a very solid reliable signal on another band. Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe some way to shield the mid band signal?88Visto0likes1ComentarioSlow home internet even with extender
I have t-mobile home internet. It was slow from the gitgo, but this is literally the only service I can get out here. I can't even get DSL. I decided to try an external antenna to see if that would help. I cracked open the modem and hooked up the external antenna on the ports on the inside of the modem. The highest speed I can get is 7mb down and 3 up. Does anyone have any ideas how to help? I'm desperate I need this to be faster. On a side note, I know exactly where the closest tower is and have the external 2 band mimo antenna pointed right at it. Any help is greatly appreciated.Solved1KViews0likes8ComentariosHome Internet Speeds / connection quality
Hello, I signed up for T-mobile home internet almost 1 month ago. Inthe beginning service was well above expectations.. The download speed was around 250Mbps and the upload around 30Mbps. However, after about two weeks. Now it'sborderline unusable at times. I've attached a couple screenshots hoping to figure out what the cause might be?Pay special attention to the one speed test with very high jitter and ping… Any advice would be helpful..438Visto0likes6ComentariosSlow data speeds - new customer
Hello All T-mobile just started home internet services in my area. I've been checking the availability checker every once in awhile and Sunday said I was eligible. I jumped on it and received my modern Wednesday. Speed is a bit disappointing. I've watched some videos and read some threads explaining signal strength alone doesn't mean much. I also understand congestion. Anyway looking for help seeing if there is anything else I can do. Can someone help review my numbers? Gracias363Visto0likes3Comentarios
