Re: T-mobile home internet stuck at downloading firmware update fix?
Well, what do i know? Overnight, the 0% download disappeared and the status bar is now 4. It has always been 3 bars. And SpeedTest is showing reasonable boost up to 260 mbps; used to hover 150-200. Let's see how long this lasts… So my advice is to just ignore the 0%-download and let it do its thing.67Visto1like0ComentariosRe: T-mobile home internet stuck at downloading firmware update fix?
Same situation here! I noticed it one morning several weeks ago and I had power-cycled the modem. Now, I see it again at 0% downloading. The display is ON all the time. This time I will leave it as is. This is the sort of stuff the users should not have to worry about.143Visto1like0Comentarios- 1Ver0likes0Comentarios
Re: Home Internet IP address madness.
hey @cazmo i think you should give it a chance if your current router can behave in router mode (which is the default mode in most routers) and not in access point mode like mine was. i say this ‘cause afterwards internet speed jumped to nearly 340 mbps depending on location. my 2-year experience with t-mo home gateway has been overall quite good. just recently when they were upgrading the tower to 5G, there were 2 weekends when the service was entirely down over 24-hr periods. good luck...5Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Home Internet IP address madness.
OK, that IP address, 192.168.12.1, is set in concrete. So, I changed my Orbi router to router mode; it was smart enough to assign itself a different address 192.168.1.1 and it is doling out similar subnet addresses to all devices in the house. All hassle was worth it since my internet speed has doubled what it was with the LTE gateway!8Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Home internet gateway has no router functions?
Well, I will volunteer an answer: instead of not accepting gateway's lack of router functions, I decided to turn Orbi router into that mode. Previously, it was set up as Access Point (AP) with the old LTE gateway. Orbi was smart enough to change its IP address different from the gateway since it would conflict. So, it now shows as 192.168.1.1 whereas gateway is set in concrete as 192.168.12.1. And the best news? Internet speed has at least doubled to 340 mbps. So, I'm glad to be keeping this brick after all. Just so it happens, this morning it updated itself to even LESS functions, just one page of status and no way to mess with wifi settings. T-Mo really wants things simple for themselves or is it customers? They really need to provide Advanced options for those customers that need and want it!3Visto2likes0ComentariosHome internet gateway has no router functions?
I just received the latest gateway and as far as I can tell, it has NO router functions. Specifically, there is no way to change its IP address. Which means unless your local addresses are 192.168.12.x, you must change all of them to ..12.x! On the admin page, there is NO advanced tab where you could do whole bunch of router-related parameters including disable wifi radios and importantly, change its local IP address to match your LAN setup. Unless I learn otherwise, this brick (actually black tall tower, not cylinder) is going back home. Please advise...248Visto1like1ComentarioRe: Home Internet IP address madness.
Wow just wow! T-Mo really crippled this piece of high-tech gear, didn't they? Can't change the IP address? Yes, total madness as you said. I got the gateway this pm and returning it tomorrow… I'll try again when they make this gateway a router/gateway like the old one.7Visto0likes0Comentarios
