Re: Roku unable to "see" 5Ghz network
TMHI selects 5 GHzchannels in the DFS range because most of them are. Roku and Chromecast need non-DFS channels. This question has been asked many times - myself included when I got my gateway last month. The only way to get around this is to connect a router to the gateway and that router has to be able toselect non-DFS channels. I'm fine with 2.4 GHz for now as I'm not watching 4K content. But when I eventually do I will get a router or hopefully fiber internet by then.6Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: No 5G signal after firmware updated to 100.18 arcadyan gateway
It seems that the update to 1.00.18 has been problematic for a lot of customers. No concerns when my gateway updated so I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Try a factory reset. If this doesn't work, contact TM. Don't wait on hold. Request a call back when offered. I've had the unlimited service for a month now and plan on waiting at least one more month before cutting the Comcast cord. Say what you will about Xfinity but at least myservice has been 99% reliable and is vastly superior toAT&T's awful DSL whichI stubbornly kept for way too long.4Visto2likes0ComentariosRe: gateway place on desk(to close to me?) and should I use Ethernet port to connect to laptop instead of wireless.
Ethernet typically provides the fastestspeeds (up to 1 Gbps). Wi-Fi 6 is capable of 1.2 Gbps and above with 2x2 MIMOor 4x4 MIMOwhich your laptop mightnot have. Strong cellular signal strength is critical to achieving 1+ Gbps speeds (wired or wireless) with broadcast internet service. Radio waves at low power are not known to be hazardous to humans so yes, it's safe to place your gateway next to you. That's where I have mine.2Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Arkadyan firmware 1.00.18 Breaks 5G!
My KVD21 gateway just updated to 1.00.18last night or early this morning. Functions just as well as before the update. Recommend that you factory reset your gatewaytosee if the previous firmware version is restored. Could've been an interruption of some sort during your update. Worth a try.3Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: just got our T-Mobile 5G Gateway installed all TV's can load streaming movies except the one in our basement family room which never goes above 89%. What is the best booster / extender device that works with T-Mobile for streaming?
The simplest solution is to run aethernet cablefrom yourgateway to your basement if you have a convenient place to drill a hole through the floor. I had a great location on the side ofthe basement stairwell for this.7Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: KVD21 gateway - Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) when connected with the 2.4 Ghz band?
I found the answer for the 2.4 Ghz band. The network adapter for my cheapo HP pc is only capable of thisspeed for this band. To get quicker speeds I need a better adapter which I ordered two days ago from CDW. My current network adapter tops out at 433 Mbps with the 5 Ghz bandwhich is adequate for my needs. Hopefully the Wi-Fi 6 adapter I bought will be equal to or better than that. To anybody who downvotes me I hope it's not because I called the Nokia a trashcan. This is what it's commonly called on one of the subreddits. No offense to those who were sent that unit. I was sent a brand new KVD21. So far so good.3Visto1like0ComentariosKVD21 gateway - Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) when connected with the 2.4 Ghz band?
Why does my KVD21 gateway selectWi-Fi 4 (802.11n) when it connects withthe 2.4 Ghz band?Wi-Fi 4 only supports 72 Mb/sec download speed. The5 Ghz band withWi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) supports up to 433 Mb/sec download speed? Dothe Nokia trashcan andthe Sagemcon also do this? There are many knowledgeable people here who probably can explain this. Any other KVD21 gateway users experiencethis? Curiosity more than anything since most of my devices use the 2.4 Ghz band. My Windows 11 desktop PC and smartphone are able to connect and use the 5 Ghz band. My smart TVs cannot because the KVD21 always (so far) selects a DFSchannel which the TVs can't access.226Visto1like2ComentariosRe: Just got a 5G Gateway, trying to split 2.4 and 5 ghz bands - no option, even in web UI
I can't thank youenoughCynB !!! I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to separate the network bands. There are no instructionsinside the app or in the Google Play Store to show how it's done.I must confess thatI'm not the sharpest tool in the shed but it should've been simpler for people like me.15Visto0likes0Comentarios
