Re: G4AR firmware upgrade to 1.00.12 results in frequent lost internet connection and reboots
tell-me-y wrote: Are you using an internal or external antenna? If you are using an internal antenna, the G4AR makes decisions on whether to use the internal antenna "omnidirectional" or"directional" mode which shows up in the "Advanced cellularmetrics" T-Mobile Internet app display. If the internal antenna mode selected by the firmware results in very poor reception, it couldresult in an internet disconnection. This would be similar to myproblem with my external antenna and flawed v1.00.09 firmware. T-Mobile does NOT create the G4AR firmware.Arcadyan, in Taiwan, makes and programs the G4AR for T-Mobile. Apparently theArcadyan programmers don't adequately check out their firmware before releasing it, leaving it to us T-Mobile customers to suffer the consequences and find the bugs before the bugs are worked out. So far v1.00.12 is working okay with my external antenna which only has ONE mode, "external". T-Mobile customers have no way to "roll-back" the firmware to a previous version that worked for them. This is NOT right!!! I happen to be a former computer programmer workingfor a rocket company years ago. I made sure my programs worked, and I still have strong intuitive sense about faulty software or firmware problems. Faulty firmware should never be released or left to the users to find the bugs! Any bugs that users do find and report should IMMEDIATELTY be corrected, and T-Mobile needs to have customer support that listens and quicklyreports those bugs directly toArcadyanand demands an immediate fix!!! Internal antenna only. And it was very stable on 1.00.09. I really don't have any options to fix this other than trying an external antenna as you said. I guess I'll have to wait patiently and hope for a firmware fix. They come so infrequently I doubt it will be soon. If I run out of patience I will likely have to try moving the gateway to a different location to see if it locks more reliable and/or request a replacement/different device. I have heard that the Sagecomm fast device might work better. Frustrating!8Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: G4AR firmware upgrade to 1.00.12 results in frequent lost internet connection and reboots

Yes, I did read through that post but they did not have the problems with 1.00.12 firmware that I am having so thought I would make a new post.19Visto0likes0ComentariosG4AR firmware upgrade to 1.00.12 results in frequent lost internet connection and reboots
I've had the G4AR for a few months on 1.00.09 and it has worked fantastically. Firmware update at 3am 2 days ago to 1.00.12 now results in frequent lost internet connection and reboots (6 today!). I've factory reset the device with no improvement. Clearly this was caused by the firmware update and am wondering if there is a fix now or I want to make sure Tmobile tech support is aware their firmware update has crippled some devices.619Visto3likes9ComentariosRe: Home Internet - Sudden consistent signal degradation
I am having serious stuttering problems. I have similar speeds to yours (50-350mbps) but if I use video streaming or zoom calls, there is frequent pauses and stuttering. I also have 3 bars and "good" connection according to the Tmobile Internet iOS app. Just trying to get a sense if stuttering and pauses are normal on video streaming as that is a deal breaker in a WFH environment.12Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: How to access Expert settings on Home Internet
FYI I discussed this with Tmobile tech support and they said that Expert settings are not yet available on the 5g modems but that they have a major upgrade planned soon (no dates or timeline given). So the settings are very basic right now on the 5g modem but there should be feature parity with the 4g modems at some point. For right now, I've simply plugged in my wireless router (still in router settings) to the 5g modem and everything is working fine. I have lost my ability to manage port forwarding but I can manage until they fix this capability. I have not encountered any double NAT issues on the network yet (other than losing port forwarding). There are capabilities I will lose if I put my wireless router into bridge mode so for now I am leaving it in router mode unless I encounter networking issues.99Visto1like0ComentariosHow to access Expert settings on Home Internet
I just got a 5g home internet router and so far the signal and speeds are good at my home. I already have a wireless router (Amplifi) that covers my house much better than the t mobile device so I'd like to use that, which means I need to put the t mobile router in bridge mode/DMZ and turn off the wireless radios. T mobile's web user interface guide (https://www.t-mobile.com/support/devices/web-user-interface-t-mobile-lte-wi-fi-gateway#app8) states that many features of the router can be accessed via the Expert menu (ie DMZ, etc). I can't access any such Expert menu on my router. ¡Ayuda!31KViews1like17Comentarios
