Re: bad internet speed
Just dumped my Tmobile Home Internet and went back to cable. So wanted to keep this service. But inconsistent speeds with no solution pushed me out. Don't like spending more money to go to Spectrum. But 500 mbps downloads and low teens pings are worth it. Guess I'll check this out again once my two years are up with Spectrum. Cheers!!!53Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Slow Home internet
We were having inconsistent connectivity to 5g for a few weeks. Called and was told they're "upgrading" the towers. Comes back for a while, then it's back to 4g. The 4g isn't bad, but we're subscribed to 5g service. Strangely when I ignore the direction they tell me to aim my gateway I get 3x the speed, even with only good connectivity. Think there's a 5g tower further away that always has a 5g signal. Bottom line...move your gateway around the house. You'll be surprised.462Visto0likes0ComentariosNo 5G
Wondering if anyone has issues with 5g connectivity. We've had TMHI for three months. Has pretty much been great so far, with the exception of 5g service dropping periodically. You can tell we're dropped to 4g because the download is halved, upload is quartered and ping doubles. Not a huge deal. Streaming is fine and we're still getting speeds of 100/20. But it's a little laggy when you do things online. 5g is available. My Iphone is getting near gigabit speeds. Called Tmobile and was told they're "servicing my tower" and that since internet is deprioritized we get bumped down instead of wireless users. She also said it was temporary and to periodically re-boot my gateway to re-establish a connection when 5g returns. Again, the service isn't bad. It's just not what we're paying for (it's sold as 5g home internet).81Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: why so slow???
Move the gateway around your house. Originally I had it in the room that's window faced the closest tower. Then I put it into another room that seemed to catch higher speeds, even with a less powerfull signal. Ended up going back to the original room, and with a little tweaking I'm getting 300-400 mbps download and 80 mbps upload. Try to tweak it a bit. If it doesn't work, just bail and head back to cable.58Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: 5g internet fast on phone but slow on Computer
Move your gateway around your house. The app told me to aim it towards one of the nearest towers. I did and placed it near a window. Download speeds weren't horrible, 100-220 mbps. Uploads were around 20 mbps. Pings were around 50. Not bad, but I was considering purchasing an external antenna from Waveform and decided to check values around my house. Moved the gateway to another bedroom that didn't have an accessible window. Aimed it in the general direction of the tower, but through a wall. The main screen shows excellent signal, but my 5g specs are only good to poor. But now I'm getting 400-500 mbps downloads, 80-100 mbps uploads and pings 20-30. Can only imagine what I'd be getting with an outside mounted antenna.59Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: tmobile gateway router
Forget about the internal router, it's garbage. I have a decent seperate tplink router and it smokes what the gateway can do. Worth noting that you should also move the gateway all over the house in order to find the "sweet spot". I had it in front of a window aimed in the direction of the tower and got decent (200+ down, 15 up) speeds with ho hum pings (40 to 50). Moved it to another bedroom, aiming it slightly away from where the app directed me and through a wall. Download speeds tripled, uploads quadrupled and my ping is below 30 consistently. Was thinking about buying an external antenna. Why bother?108Visto1like0Comentarios
