By all means, place a freeze on your credit files at the big three agencies. Once done it only takes a couple of clicks to thaw for a legitimate inquiry and then re-freeze after the credit check you've allowed. I just did it for T-Mobile to run my credit when I switched from Verizon in March. It makes it near impossible for a crook to open an account' or buy anything in your name, even if they have your info. It's free to do by law in the US at least.
